A contemporary take on the classic oyster bar, located in Fort Greene, Brooklyn, near BAM, Barclay's, the Paramount, and Atlantic Terminal.

Strange Delight finds its influence in New Orleans and is also inspired by the rich history of oysters in New York. Our menu consists of regional seafood prepared in a variety of styles: Charbroiled Oysters and Shrimp Remoulade share the stage with classic seafood towers and Oysters Rockefeller. A rotating selection of larger plates features items such as Black Cod Almondine and Blackened Swordfish Belly.

To drink, Strange Delight updates old classics, serving both a Hurricane and Ramos Gin Fizz service for 2, alongside Martinis and Sazeracs. Our wine and beer lists feature our favorite American producers.

We offer 3 distinct types of reservations:
Regular: a table in our back dining room
Bar: seats at our back dining room bar
High-top: a higher table with bar stools in our front room with an open kitchen and oyster counter.

D'après les éditeur·rices d'OpenTable : Avant même que le New Yorker n'encense le Strange Delight, cet hommage porté aux célèbres cabanes à huîtres et aux cocktails de la Nouvelle-Orléans faisait déjà parler de lui. Commencez par un verre de ramos gin fizz onctueux, poursuivez avec un plateau d'huîtres cuites à la braise avec du beurre à l'ail fumé et dégustez le tout dans un cadre vous donnant l'impression d'être dans un bar à huîtres typique de la Nouvelle-Orléans. Après une seule visite, cet établissement deviendra une étape incontournable avant ou après un spectacle au BAM.

    Food was good. Wish the menu had more vegetarian dishes and more options. Strange to have sandwiches on the menu for dinner, but seeing the open kitchen and what they have to work with, I see why. Limited entrees and the ones they have were more higher priced.

    A fun place with a good vibe and interesting decor. The food, however, outrageously overpriced. Barbecue shrimp dish with 4 prawns priced over $30. “Grand remoulade” the size of a medium cereal portion (albeit with a side of crudités) $38!!!! and overly spicy, masking the flavor of seafood. Basket of fried oysters, also over $30, contained 5 bland oysters and a whole lot of french fries. The $27 catfish sandwich was the best-balanced dish. The hush puppies - 5 for $12 - were not overpriced and pretty good. Crab dip was good but, again, too expensive. They did give us free dessert: 2 small portions of bread pudding for the 4 of us and it was tasty.
