A contemporary take on the classic oyster bar, located in Fort Greene, Brooklyn, close to BAM, Barclay's, the Paramount Theater, and Atlantic Terminal.

Strange Delight finds its influence in the city of New Orleans and is also inspired by the rich history of oysters in New York. Our menu consists of local and regional seafood prepared in a variety of styles: dishes like Charbroiled Oysters and Shrimp Remoulade share the stage with classic seafood towers and Oysters Rockefeller. A rotating selection of larger plates features items such as Black Cod Almondine and a seafood-boudin stuffed Red Snapper.

To drink, Strange Delight updates old New Orleans favorites, serving both a Hurricane and Ramos Gin Fizz service for 2, alongside Martinis and Sazeracs. Our wine and beer lists feature our favorite American producers.

Our front room is walk-in only with seats around an open kitchen, while the back room is a reservation-only dining room and bar.

Everything was delicious. Super fresh, beautifully presented, incredible flavors. The service was superb. Very gracious and solicitous servers. Flawless, all the more so for a recently opened restaurant. I tend to prefer lighter fare so the fresh oysters and other nonfried foods were my favorite. The swordfish was scrumptious, the fried oysters and shrimp sandwiches were loved by my kids, the French fries out of this world, the super cold delicious margarita so generous I could not finish it. And the bread pudding was yum. Definitely coming back.

I enjoyed this but won’t be back. Food was just okay and the vibe was pretty hectic/crowded for the small space. I think the back room may be a better option.

My friend’s entee came out about 25 minutes after mine did. During that time our waiter ignored our table. We both ordered a variation of fried shrimp - so I’m not sure why the sandwich took so much longer. We weren’t offered even an apology. The table next to us was a friend of the kitchen who got all their food in a timely manner while we sat ignored and waited. The food was exorbitantly priced and passable. A simple “I’m sorry for the wait” would have mended the situation.

Food was pleasant. Ambience was cute but lighting could have been better. Service left a lot to be desired. We had a reservation and arrived on time but had to wait over 20 minutes to be seated. Some efforts of service recovery was made after we finally managed to place our orders. Prior to that, we had to wait even more for our waiter to attend to us. Because of the waiting, we were the last in the restaurant and we made to feel like it.

We had a good experience and enjoyed ourselves. We will be back if we’re in that area. Service and drinks/wine were very good. Free bread and butter, too! My dirty martini was cold and savory; just as it should be. Hot food was all very good, including an excellent shrimp sandwich. We ordered a seafood tower that had six raw oysters. They were on the small side, and all had shards of shell. It’s their first week, so I will cut them a little slack. For a place that focuses on oysters, I would consider changing suppliers and retraining the staff. Possibly cryo-shucking if they will be doing hundreds of oysters a night. Overall a fun evening. Next time I’ll come in for a martini and shrimp sando snack and it will be 10/10 I’m sure.

Great vibes on Thursday when we scored a table up front. Started with icy martinis and raw oysters, delighted by everything we ordered, especially the kick of le grand remoulade with shrimp/crab, and those ethereal hush puppies. Still many more dishes we want to try next time!

Every dish came out at the exact same time maybe 10 min after ordering - there wasn’t enough room on the small table. It was kind of awkward and clearly should’ve been coursed out. It made the experience feel rushed we were done in like 45 min. The food was fine nothing was bad at all but the experience was kinda lacking.

Great spot, great vibes, great music, great menu, great people taking care of you. The menu is maybe a little confined and narrow, but it's got enough bangers to make you happy. Oysters about a hundred different ways all good. BBQ shrimp in a roux that makes it feel almost like gumbo (needs okra) - the remoulade is spicy and good and the shrimp sandwich is good, would be better if the po-boy'd it on crispier roll to catch the lettuce and tomato, but very very good. Great ranging wine list - Great service. There was a hiccup in our meal where i got my entree :20 after my date got hers, but i don't really care. Mistakes happen. Overall a good attentive experience
