A contemporary take on the classic oyster bar, located in Fort Greene, Brooklyn, near BAM, Barclay's, the Paramount, and Atlantic Terminal.

Strange Delight finds its influence in New Orleans and is also inspired by the rich history of oysters in New York. Our menu consists of regional seafood prepared in a variety of styles: Charbroiled Oysters and Shrimp Remoulade share the stage with classic seafood towers and Oysters Rockefeller. A rotating selection of larger plates features items such as Black Cod Almondine and Blackened Swordfish Belly.

To drink, Strange Delight updates old classics, serving both a Hurricane and Ramos Gin Fizz service for 2, alongside Martinis and Sazeracs. Our wine and beer lists feature our favorite American producers.

We offer 3 distinct types of reservations:
Regular: a table in our back dining room
Bar: seats at our back dining room bar
High-top: a higher table with bar stools in our front room with an open kitchen and oyster counter.

D'après les éditeur·rices d'OpenTable : Avant même que le New Yorker n'encense le Strange Delight, cet hommage porté aux célèbres cabanes à huîtres et aux cocktails de la Nouvelle-Orléans faisait déjà parler de lui. Commencez par un verre de ramos gin fizz onctueux, poursuivez avec un plateau d'huîtres cuites à la braise avec du beurre à l'ail fumé et dégustez le tout dans un cadre vous donnant l'impression d'être dans un bar à huîtres typique de la Nouvelle-Orléans. Après une seule visite, cet établissement deviendra une étape incontournable avant ou après un spectacle au BAM.

Food is good and a very original menu. There was no service to speak of… no one walked us through the menu (which is not self explanatory) or check in on us once during the night. Still new so hopefully will improve, but that’s the thing that would make this an actually special dining experience

a very enjoyable evening out. A nice crowd, friendly service, not too loud. The food was excellent as were cocktails. the shrimp remoulade appetizer was excellent, the shrimp and oyster loafs were good although didn't have that much seafood; mainly bread and other stuff. also, it took a long time for the food to arrive. water should be served cold and with ice.

Lovely upscale experience in what looks like an art deco luncheonette. Immaculate lighting, inviting service and the shrimp loaf was divine

We had the most wonderful dining experience. Music, food, and service were on point. They even gifted us desert for my partner’s birthday. We will definitely be back!

Highly recommend this place. Would rival any of the great oyster houses in New Orleans. The flavors and creativity is amazing.

I read a good share of reviews and knew I needed to try Strange Delight for myself. This restaurant is for people who appreciate flavors and seasoning outside of the basic salt and pepper. I truly enjoyed the flavors of the food and sauces coming together. This restaurant is suited for people with mature palates.

Every dish was super tasty and we kept wanting to order what other people had. Really unique flavour profiles for some dishes, but comfortingly delicious too. Super thoughtful staff too.

The food is so delicious. We particularly loved the smoked fish dip, charbroiled oysters and the shrimp loaf.
