Stir Restaurant is regarded as one of the finest pre-theatre restaurants in Dublin. Located opposite the Bord Gais Energy Theatre, the location deserves a standing ovation. We can cater for any BBQ come rain or shine at Clayton Hotel Cardiff Lane. The grill and bar will be set up under two large marquees with seating placed out in the Whitaker square and the possibility of reserving seats in the back of Stir restaurant to allow for additional seating.

Classic Caesar Salad, baby gem lettuce, streaky bacon, garlic croutons, Caesar dressing, topped with grilled chicken and parmesan cheese. MAINS Fillet of hake, buttered greens, mashed potatoes, hollandaise. Roast supreme of chicken, buttered mash, baby carrots, with wild mushroom jus. Organic falafel, beetroot hummus, raita, and flatbreads. Pasta of the Day. Ask your waiter for details. DESSERTS Pistachio crusted carrot cake served with whipped cream. Had the steak for main, I like it medium rare and it was cooked perfectly, not overdone. My partner had the hake and again was cooked perfectly, lovely and succulent. Sides and desserts great also - brownie with the stewed berries (an extra request). Service was warm and prompt and overall a lovely pre theatre experience.

Great place, just opposite to theatre which is great if you are going for a show. Food was delicious, staff very friendly.

I arrived at the Hotel to discover that Stir Restaurant was closed and we would have to eat in the Bar. NO phone call or email was made to let me no in advance and my reservation wasn't transferred to the Bar so when I went in it was pot luck on whether a table would be able. As this was a pre-theatre booking my options were non existent if a table wasn't available. Thankfully one was and the food was fine but service was patchy-nice waitress but my food came 10 mins after my companions.

When we arrived there was no booking for us as Stir Restaurant don't use OpenTable for the past 2 years. However, they were able to find us a table even though it was a busy night with a show on in the Bord Gais theatre. It took 25 mins for 2 glasses of wine that we ordered to appear and 50 minutes for the food to arrive. I won't be using OpenTable again to book a table.

Had a booking for 6pm, arrived at 5.55 to be told you have no booking. Produced proof of booking and shown to a bar table outside the restaurant. Complained to the staff and then brought into the restaurant, given a menu at 6.30 and told we were too late for starters, ordered a main course each and waited until 7.10 to be told the food will possibly another 30 mins. We had theatre tickets and had no choice but to leave. An absolute disgrace of a restaurant. I cant understand why they were under pressure as the restaurant wasn’t that busy.
