The food was delicious - beautiful ingredients very well prepared. The service was inattentive and a bit lackadaisical eg. Had to ask for cutlery and then for drinks several times.

Always a warm welcome from the staff. Cat and Cas even know what we want to drink without having to order it. Food was as delicious as always. We tried the beef ragu on toast as a starter and cod as a main, both were excellent. Even when they are really busy, the staff are friendly and efficient. Our favourite Sunday lunch destination!

We felt valued as customers and the bar staff and restaurant staff were very helpful, friendly and professional. A really excellent experience.

A regular place we visit when in Norfolk and we will certainly return. A good choice of options on the menu and a great choice of wines. Of course the delicious gin went down a treat too. Thank you for an enjoyable evening.

Norfolk is blessed with many amazing restaurants… and it can be fun choosing which one to go to next/again. I have to say that my personal favourite is The Red Lion at Stiffkey… and whenever it is my turn to choose, that is my selection! Tonight was my turn… and we were not disappointed. Before we get to the food… what tends to set one place ahead of the next for me is the staff - are they happy, do they look as though they enjoy their job, do they understand the menu, do they add to our enjoyment? With the Red Lion, they get 5 gold stars from me for this - the lady who owns it and is front of house, and the two lovely waitresses were all happy, informative and chatty. And then the food. I usually make at least one mistake - one course where I wish I had chosen what my wife (or the person on the next table) had gone for. Tonight I scored 3 out of 3 - starter, main and dessert that I wouldn’t swap for the world! Starter I had the chilli beef that was sweet, sticky and very tasty. Main I went for the Belly Pork that just melted in the mouth, was a big portion, and just yummy! Dessert was the duo of chocolate, that was simply indulgent! My wife loved her Aperol Spritz and Pinot Grigio Rose… but for me it was two pints of Wherry beer, that was great. Top choice - can’t wait for it to be my turn again!!

The definition of style over substance. The food was overcooked, it felt thrown together with very little skill or finesse. Vegetables were chopped very poorly, no uniformity whatsoever. Every item was under seasoned. The chef is either new or untrained, neither are any excuse for food this bad at £24 a main. The worst meal I've ever had in Norfolk. Just plain awful.

The staff at the Red Lion were great, very helpful and friendly. The main course (pork) was excellent. The pudding, treacle tart, was poor. It was a weird cake consistency with doughy pastry on the bottom which didn’t taste remotely treacley.

As always, an absolutely delicious roast beef Sunday lunch. Friendly, welcoming and efficient service, even when it’s busy. Fabulous thank you!

Food was brilliant. Especially the cockle popcorn!! The whole thing was great, and very good value too. Really enjoyed ourselves and nice dog could come in too!
