The definition of style over substance. The food was overcooked, it felt thrown together with very little skill or finesse. Vegetables were chopped very poorly, no uniformity whatsoever. Every item was under seasoned. The chef is either new or untrained, neither are any excuse for food this bad at £24 a main. The worst meal I've ever had in Norfolk. Just plain awful.

The staff at the Red Lion were great, very helpful and friendly. The main course (pork) was excellent. The pudding, treacle tart, was poor. It was a weird cake consistency with doughy pastry on the bottom which didn’t taste remotely treacley.

As always, an absolutely delicious roast beef Sunday lunch. Friendly, welcoming and efficient service, even when it’s busy. Fabulous thank you!

Food was brilliant. Especially the cockle popcorn!! The whole thing was great, and very good value too. Really enjoyed ourselves and nice dog could come in too!

Our food was okay. My steak small but well cooked, chips way too salty, broccoli portion modest. My wife enjoyed her lentil ragu eith courgetti. Her salad was ridiculously small. Staff attentive. Room cluttered and lacking atmosphere.

Excellent welcome into a busy cosy pub. Great service from friendly staff. Helpful food and non alcoholic beer choices. Food very tasty and sensible portion size. Very well cooked and presented.

We ate at the Red Lion earlier in the year and enjoyed a particularly good meal. This visit was a little less successful. We selected the Chart Room to eat in as we find the bar area too noisy for us - we were offered to move to the conservatory for a bit more company around us but chose not to as the weather was horribly wet and we wanted to feel a bit cosier. The menu was not as interesting as our previous visit (probably just personal taste) and it took a bit of a wait to be shown any menus (probably because we were the only people in the Chart Room). We each chose a different main course and each was presented beautifully. There was a choice of four mains plus the one on the specials board. A choice of three desserts or cheese. Both the starter and main on the specials board featured cockles. The mains on the menu offered chicken, cod, liver or vegetable lasagne. Would we eat here again - yes, we probably will as we like the ambience and feel at home here but it has lost its "go to favourite" status for now.
