Excellent gastro experience, food, service & wines were very good. We have booked to return. One thing however a little more expensive than your average bistro.

This is a great venue for interesting and delicious food and drink. Our food was amazing (new autumn menu). We had crab cake and the salsify for starters. Both were excellent. For mains, we had the plaice and the schnitzel, again these were delicious. We shared a cheeseboard for desert. Excellent crackers and cheese selection. There was a great choice of wines, sherry and cocktails to accompany our food. The espresso martini was one of the best I’ve had. Service was attentive but not overbearing, just right! We went on a Tuesday and sat upstairs. Atmosphere was quiet and cosy mid week. It was busier downstairs.

Celebrating our wedding anniversary on a Monday evening, I thought we would be guaranteed a stand out meal and experience at the Sticky Walnut. We’ve been here many times over the years and always had an excellent experience. This time I’d say our experience was just ‘ok’ whilst the food was good, nothing was really stand out as it has been in the past. My husband had the special Fillet, it was very small, perhaps the narrow end of the steak. All cooked well but it felt small and came with a small side of beetroot. My carrot fritter starter was very good, I ordered Hake as a main, slightly over cooked and not much flavour coming from the whole dish. Neither of us thought to order sides, nor were we prompted. Service was ok, waitress kept forgetting to replenish the cutlery, but always brought it over quickly. We both felt everything was just missing the that special touch I was expecting. We were given complimentary fudge for our anniversary which was a really nice touch.

Once again a fantastic meal. Starting off with lamb breast . What a lovely thing. Much underrated but full of flavour. Hubby had the octopus which was delicious and very tender.This time I decided on the feather blade as my husband normally goes for this and I spend my time wanting to pinch it. Cooked until it sighs into submission. So tender. Also served with a rather tasty beetroot ketchup and those amazing truffle chips!! Followed up by a lovely sticky lemon and brown butter syrup pudding. Naughty but very nice. Husband true to form went (as he does every time ) for the chocolate honeycomb. If you're after a reasonably priced but very tasty meal this is the place. Unfortunately not local to us but it doesn't stop us visiting twice a year.

Don’t really want to tell you how great this place is, as I appreciate being able to book at present. BUT, the food is outstanding, the serving staff can discuss the dishes with you, the service is perfect - unobtrusive, but there when needed. It’s our favourite place to eat- been there 3-4 times this year. Hard to want to go anywhere else.

Standards have dropped. I was a big fan, but I will not be returning anytime soon. There was a hair in my dessert. The food is overpriced and the drinks are extremely overpriced. The decor is poor. It is priced similarly to restaurant twenty eight and chefs table, but it is nowhere near the same level.

Everything was going well until we came across a dead caterpillar in the salad. Sticky Walnut handled it relatively OK, but it's completely put us off returning.
