At Millpond Gatherings, we are an all encompassing hospitality center where you can eat, celebrate, shop, and stay with us here in the quaint town of Northford, Connecticut. The Millpond Steakhouse, run by Executive Chef Pedro Avila, is a farm-to-table modern American steakhouse with a fine dining flare. Our dry-aged grass fed beef is sourced from our own cattle farm just 2 miles up the road, and accompanied with local produce from our surrounding farmers. Downstairs in the Tavern we encompass the spirit of historic New England with a cozy laid back atmosphere and weekly live music on Thursdays and Sundays.

Millpond Events is our venue hall located adjacent to the restaurant. This rustic charming space will harvest many special memories and celebrations.

The food was not as good as expected for the price. Over $250 for 3 people including one child. The crab was way too salty. The filet was mediocre. Friendly service and the building is gorgeous, but overall, not worth the price.

Third time there, service was lacking. Food was ok. Definitely not worth the price. Seems to be going down hill.

We want to like it here because the venue is wonderful and the ambiance and views are so pretty nestled into the side of a quaint brook in the green woods of a small town off the beaten path. We’ve tried it now on multiple occasions and the food just isn’t great. Expect so much more for the price. The soup portions are ridiculously small. Limited non meat dishes. One of the seafood dishes they put meat into it. The steaks are inconsistent and never what you’d expect for a restaurant like this. Service is also inconsistent. We haven’t tried the lower level tavern yet.

A $65.00 steak was 5 inches across and dried out. For the upscale experience we had to wait one hour for our entree. Servers asking guests to help give them plates, utensils etc. a place like this with upscale dining shouldn’t have the diners working for the servers. Food was extreme expensive and sub-par. It’s gorgeous there, but expect to pay for it and receive mediocre food and service.

Excellent food and amazing atmosphere! Makes me want to buy a cabin and live in the mountains and eat gourmet meat for the rest of my life. 10/10 recommend!

Me and my two guests were totally disappointed in Millpond. The food was really strange, with small portions and tastes that were obviously the work of the chef. We started with two Caesar salads at $17 each and clam chowder. The salad was not your typical caesar salad as it was three stalks of lettuce with dressing. Not what we expected. The clam chowder was $18 and it was a small portion with whole clams filled with ingredients you had to dump in and mix. Again a strange presentation and small portion. They gave us each a popover with a small round butter portion which was totally insufficient. For main courses we had two orders of shrimp and scallops over risotto and a double cut pork chop with mashed potatoes. The shrimp and scallops were over tiny amount of risotto. Risotto is not expensive. For $38 how about enough that you could see it. If the pork chop i got was a double cut, I would hate to see a single cut. For $37 it was small and while the waitress suggested it be cooked medium, it was rare and that's not normal for pork. The mashed potatoes and whatever else they put on it were disgusting. I tasted them and pushed them aside. Then we ordered two cappuccinos and three deserts. A lava cake, a cheese cake and geloto. The coffee came quickly and then the 20 minute wait for deserts began. I asked the waitress what was taking so long and she said the kitchen was busy. Too busy to send out deserts. Again they were ok but cost $11-12 each. I dine out constantly and have been to many fine restaurants but this isn't one of them. If the the food and service are good I really don't care about price. But at Millpond, the food is mediocre at best and the prices are way to high for the quality and quantity. Needless to say, I won't be back. I can think of 50 other restaurants in the area that are far superior. I will enjoy them and never complain. If you go, don't expect to be filled up and certainly bring you wallet. $280 wasted.

The absolute worst service! Detached, not attentive, non engaging. We were a party of four. One of us ordered the only special of the evening, swordfish. Our waitress brought - not swordfish and when we questioned what type of fish it was she blamed the kitchen. We think it was halibut. No apology, no explanation nothing, she didn’t come back until it was time to deliver the check. She needs to find another line of work, waitressing is not for her.

Hello Meg, I'm so sorry that your visit to Millpond was not enjoyable. As far as the fish goes, our chef assured the server that it was in fact swordfish, so she was only going by what he said. She certainly didn't mean to disregard your concern, but she was in a tough position given the information she was given by the kitchen. I'm sorry that you didn't receive an apology, so let me be the one to apologize, albeit belatedly. I hope you choose to give us another try in the future. Thank you for being candid in your review.
