The steak that we had had no flavor. The walleye also was not very good.

Service was exceptional. We felt pampered. Husband had walleye filets, garlic mashed potatoes, and grilled asparagus. I had bbq ribs, half rack with same sides plus you get to go to the full salad bar and they bring a loaf of warm bread and butter to your table. We will be back! Very family friendly.

Food is fantastic, really enjoyed the open salad bar with plenty of options. It was quite busy on a Friday night, highly recommend reservations!

Fantastic salad bar. For lunch, quiet atmosphere. Service was mediocre; inattentive, had to ask twice for several things, did not time entrees well and had to flag her down for the check.

I was so excited when Steak & Ale arrived back in the Twin Cities and booked a reservation for my birthday with another couple. I think it's going to take some time for this location to reach the quality and service enjoyed "back-in-the-day". The drinks were great! A nice selection and you could definitely tell there was liquor in your glass. We had stuffed mushrooms for an appetizer and that was very good. We then ordered our entrees and were invited to the salad bar. That's when the disappointment began. The selection was good, but the salad bar itself was messy and many items needed restocking. We returned to our table and only had a few forks of salad when our main dishes arrived. Timing was way off. There was walleye, stuffed filet mignon, prime rib and ribeye. Everyone was very pleased with their entrees with the exception of the ribeye. The ribeye literally had no taste. No seasoning and only a small puddle of garlic butter on the top of the steak and not prepared medium as ordered. It was over cooked. Not even half was eaten. For the price of the steaks, which is fairly high ($45 for a 12 ounce steak), expectations were high. The sides were good and generous and the key lime pie and brownie dessert were exceptional. We had already finished dessert when the complimentary birthday dessert was delivered to our table. The effort was nice, but again, a timing issue. However, we won't give up. We're going to give it a little time and will then return.

Horrible service. Never got our appetizer despite her talking about it at least three separate times. Didn’t get creamy horseradish hubby asked for with his prime rib. Had to ask for refills on our sodas. Three of us asked for boxes. She came out with three boxes, handed one to our friend and then took the other two to another table. It was like she wasn’t listening to anything we asked for. When I asked for a manager to complain they brought her over. Maybe they were short staffed? They did comp the appetizer we never got and brought it boxed up for us to take home, and one of our entrees. Salad bar was smaller than we expected and nothing was filled more than half full. There was an employee stocking things one container at a time. Again, maybe short staffed? Not worth $13 in my opinion. And the cost to add the salad bar to a sandwich is still $13. Steaks were very good. I had the mushroom stuffed filet and I highly recommend it. Baked potato was not fully cooked and lukewarm. Didn’t even melt the butter. Fries were cold with friend’s sandwich. Prices seemed very high to me, even in today’s world. Maybe because they are connected to a hotel? Overall, we enjoyed the steaks and had a nice visit with friends. We would not personally go back. Others may want to give them a shot. Would love for them to succeed but they are going to need to get service figured out and revisit pricing to survive.

Our first visit to Steak and Ale won’t be our last! Very nice ambiance and it was nice to see some of the original menu items—including the excellent salad bar and the tasty bread!

Our service was very good. The meal had good flavor but, it was warm at best. Warmer than room temperature but not by much. The leftovers will be enjoyed much better reheated at home and will be hot.
