Very nice restaurant with a great salad bar and some “old” S&A favorites. Definitely one of our preferred dining experiences. Thank you!

Second visit. Food was very good again. Speed of service was much better. Waiter was ok but not particularly friendly or engaging.

We went in hoping for a nice nostalgic dinner with friends who remembered the Bloomington location. It was fine. Exactly what you would expect for a suburban steak house situated between Taco Bell and a Wyndham hotel. Unlike the original, this was one big, noisy, generic looking dining room. The drinks were fine, food was good if a bit spendy. Entrees included a trip to the retro salad bar (picked beets and cottage cheese anyone?) the staff seemed poorly trained and disorganized but VERY nice. We had fun remembering old times but probably won’t be back.

Still working out the kinks, bu would consider again. Our server was also bartending which seemed to be his overall priority, as we were not seated directly at the bar. He was apologetic and pleasant, but several times we needed to remind him of water refills requested, etc. Food was reasonable in execution. One suggestion: When a salad bar is a part of the reason for folks to visit, it is important to keep it stocked. Many of the options were bare bones when we went through and there didn't seem to be a ton of energy being spent on replenishing the components, be it lettuce, etc. Lastly, cleaning the doors and windows with window cleaner during your dinner service can often make for smells that aren't part of the ambience you are hoping to achieve.

If you’re looking forward to even remotely experiencing the legendary Steak and Ale that you might remember, this isn’t it. Untrained staff, pedestrian food, and a poor representation of the original steakhouse design. No soul. So disappointing. The bread was hard, stale and barely above room temperature. The server was friendly, but not professional grade -- approach, pitch and style was no more polished than a busboy at Perkins. The shrimp on the shrimp cocktail was almost frozen; the ribeye was hardly recognizable as ribeye and was cooked far above as-ordered mid-rare. The blackened chicken pasta dish had canned mushrooms! These are rookie mistakes that are inexcusable for a "legendary brand"! What a shame.

Loved the bread pudding and chocolate cake. Husband was a big fan of the salad bar. He had the Norman prime rib and he was very impressed. I had the meat loaf and it was good but not great. Carter was our server and we were very happy with his attention to us. We will be back to sample more items on the menu. If you like bread pudding like I do, this is the place to go!

We were greeted promptly and seated immediately. All the staff was polite and attentive. The food was great. We shared the stuffed mushrooms. I would have them again but might not share, they were that good. I had the Monte Cristo sandwich which was huge and more than I could eat. The others had the soup and salad bar and were very pleased. We will be back.

As a boomer, we were so excited to see that Steak & Ale has returned. On the plus side, they have a nice salad bar and their sides are yummy. Unfortunately, the quality of the food is clearly not what I remember. Example, I had the Baby Back Ribs which they claim are “fall-off-the-bone” tender. The reality was “tough” meat and an “odd rancid taste” making the entrée non-eatable. My wife's indicated here Walleye was good.
