I can't get over what happened at the restaurant last night. I was taken aback when the server brought the bill and informed us that a 20 percent gratuity was included. It felt pretty disrespectful, especially since there was no mention of the gratuity at the bottom of the menu. In Pennsylvania, giving a gratuity to servers is not even lawfully required. The acronym for tips is "To Insure Prompt Service." We appreciate good service and have no problem tipping well but being forced to tip 20 percent felt off, especially when we were planning on tipping them way better than the 20 percent because of how attentive and polite the servers were. It's like they were blocking their blessings by being too greedy. The whole experience just left a bad taste in my mouth, and honestly, I don't think we'll be returning there anytime soon. I've been to a few Michelin-starred restaurants and have never been forced to give a gratuity.

We went to Steak 48 for our anniversary and had Semaj as our server. He was excellent and the food was incredible!

Steak 48 is probably the best steak house in our area. Everything on our table was cooked to perfection. Our waitress Leilani was exceptional to say the lest. Our only complaint was the lacks in dress code. Bring that back! We spoke to an unknow couple outside and they noticed the same.

My wife and I went for dinner to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Leo, the GM and Miles our server helped to make our evening extremely enjoyable. The food as usual was superb and the setting was elegant. The only problem that we have is that a 20% gratuity is added to the check. The right to tip as the diner sees fit should not be taken away with the diner having no choice as to the amount. I know of no other restaurant that does this and I feel that it is just not right. With that being said, we will still return for future meals taking this into consideration. I would not object to a 10% gratuity with the tip amount being left to the diner.

My absolute favorite!!! We drive from NYC just to eat here and it is the absolute best dining experience! There’s not a detail they overlook in terms of warm and attentive service and the foooooodddddd 😱😱😱 Awesome ❤️

This is an excellent restaurant to dine at in Philadelphia. The food and service is top of the line. This is my favorite place to eat in Center City.
