Starlite is a historic San Francisco cocktail bar with nearly a century of vibrant stories. Renowned for hosting lively parties and attracting iconic figures like Alan Ginsberg, Starlite invites guests to the Beacon Grand’s 21st-floor, featuring refreshed interiors by San Francisco designer Alice Crumeyrolle. The atmosphere is set with rich velvet fabrics and a jewel-tone palette inspired by the Art Deco Era, paying homage to the city’s icons. Crafted by Scott Baird of Trick Dog fame, the cocktails are both playful and meticulously made. Michelin-award-winning chef Johnny Spero curates a menu that celebrates San Francisco’s culinary artistry, drawing inspiration from international fare. Enhancing the experience are nightly, all-vinyl DJ sets by music director Nina Tarr.

This would be a great intimate date spot. The views are beautiful. The cocktails tasty. It's very dark though. Not the best place for singles. It was quite sedate on the Thursday night we went as a party of 4. We thought it'd have more of a vibe. The newly renovated space is absolutely gorgeous though and the service was great.

We enjoyed our time there. The drinks were delicious. I wish there was a more expansive menu, though. The food options were limited. We really enjoyed DJ Tanner. His set list really added to the ambiance.

We love coming to Starlite whenever in San Francisco. The cocktails, service, and view are second to none.

If only the service were as refreshing as the decor and views. The place has a great vibe and atmosphere, but unfortunately, the staff seemed to think they were above it all just because they worked there. Their attitude was off-putting and really took away from what could have been a great night out. Cool spots should have equally cool and welcoming staff—this place missed the mark.

Sadly it’s lost some glimmer since it reopened. Cleaning the windows would help!

Three-Star Review of the Starlite Room in SF I recently visited the Starlite Room, and while it has potential, there are some significant areas for improvement. The views are fantastic, but the dirty windows really detracted from the experience, especially since this place is all about the scenery. The food options were a letdown. The hot fried chicken bun consisted of just one nugget on a roll, which felt inadequate. The baked oysters were nonexistent, and although raw oysters were available, they had an overpowering taste of the sea that wasn't very enjoyable. The snack options overall were disappointing. Service was decent, but the decor, while somewhat cool, showed signs of wear and tear. The building is old, and you can see the damage and peeling paint in the windows that everyone is looking through. The faux flower arrangement in the lobby was also dirty, which is not the impression you want to give. Additionally, they really need to improve the timing for dealing with the sun and the motorized shades. Switching to black see-through shades instead of what they currently have could significantly enhance the comfort level for diners. The drinks were okay, but nothing to write home about. If the Starlite Room doesn’t clean those windows, improve its food offerings, and address these shade issues soon, I wouldn't be surprised if it struggles to stay afloat. I hope they take this feedback seriously, as it could be a great spot with some improvements.

The views are amazing. The service is fantastic. Both of my drinks were delicious - the stories told in the menu of the cocktail origins were fun and encouraged me to try new things. All around great experience!

Nice views, good service. Splurged for the caviar but was disappointed that it came with chips - a subtle Osetra overwhelmed by salty fried potato. The chicken buns, however, were outstanding. For a view-and-conversation lounge it got very noisy, mostly by the ever-loudening music. We had to decamp to the Post Bar for a quiet drink. We were not the only ones.
