I came here with a friend for DineLA and our experience was just subpar. Once we got seated, it took 20 mins for a server to ask us what we wanted to drink. It went downhill after that. Halfway into our entrees, our server comes to tell us they ran out of the Vietnam coffee flan dessert. We were so upset about this because our server told us he put a hold for us. If you put a hold for a dessert, you should be saving it. How can you run out of this dessert during a busy Friday night dinner where you should expect more customers than less. We then waited 45 mins for the mango sticky rice to come. We shouldn't have waited that long for dessert. Overall, something with the kitchen needs to be improved. Waiting more than 30 mins for food shouldn’t happen.

I really wanted to enjoy this meal. The food photo’s looked so good. Everything was oddly bland. We had to ask for salt! The summer rolls, a complete miss. Like eating a raw bland salad. Mango fish, no flavor at all. The royal fried rice,, just ok. Soft shell crab curry, the crab got too spongy in the curry, but the curry on its own was good. My favorite dish was the banana leaf chicken. Would not come back.

My friend and I took advantage of Dine LA to try a variety of items. We had 4 appetizers. Mamasan shrimp cake skewers that are seasoned shrimp meat in a lollipop shape that is breaded, fried, and served with sambal. The lemongrass skewer was good to chew on and added another dimension of flavor. The spicy Sum Tom Salad is a fresh green papaya salad which was hot, but not too hot. The mango shreds were a nice touch. My friend who is Asian missed the umami depth that more fish sauce would have given, but I thought it was fine. Saigon Summer Rice Paper Rolls are julienned raw veggies in rice paper with dots of mango sauce and chopped peanuts. Our favorite was the Spicy Malacca Sambal, green beans that were sauteed at high heat but crisp and seasoned with dried shrimp. Sooo good! Our entrees were the Thai Royal Curry with soft shell crab and Royal Crown fried rice. The fried crab in the lightly sweet curry was great. There was also eggplant in the curry that added a creamy component. The crown on the fried rice is bright orange fish roe. When mixed into the unctuous rice, it provided a nice salty pop and was another favorite dish. The desserts were Tropical Panna Cotta Coconut Cup served in a beautiful teacup and Slow Drip Vietnam Coffee Flan. The flan sat in coffee and had a caramel sugar work cage that upped the sweetness. The panna cotta was a gentle and soothing dessert. There were small chunks of mango and strawberries in the panna cotta. The decor is lovely with dark wood and star patterned tile as main elements. The hard surfaces made it a bit noisy. Service was good. The one thing that gave me pause was that they pour Evian without asking and it's $7.00 a bottle. I would have had tap water but wasn't given the option.

The food and presentation was beautiful. The ambiance and decor was upscale but relaxing. The service (Justin) was superb. Favorite dish was the Royal fried rice. Looking forward to coming back.

Decor, ambience, and food are excellent. Staff were nice but not easily to be found when needed. Kitchen seems to not time the food well. Some items came quickly while others required a long wait. Our drink order took ages. Could not find anyone to get our water refilled.

We ordered 5 items. Shrimp cake skewers, egg rolls, pineapple friend rice, eggplant steak and the ribeye chunks. Ribeye chunks came out first. 7-10 min later, the eggplant steak, another 5-7 min later the fried rice, another 5-7 min then the egg rolls... We were a group of 4 people; we finished our drinks, We finished eating, we waited for and paid the bill... We had them remove the shrimp cake skewers from the bill as they did not arrive.. And as we're standing up getting ready to leave, they walk over the skewers like... " Here they are! " Now, the waitress did say she's going to put everything in and let things come out as they're ready.. but this was absurd. I've never had the main entree come out first and 30 min before the rice. Ambience was Okay, cocktails were Okay, food was Okay. Not worth the price in Pasadena, especially with so many other options near by. We went to the Hat after, it was better.

Food and service was great! Love the redone decor! Noise level was pretty high, but we were seated in the middle and bare floors tend to enhance the noise. We will likely return!

The first time I went there I had an incredible experience. This time the service was very slow and the food was incredibly slow to come out at a slow time of 5 pm. Food tasted good but had no match to my previous visit.

The drinks were interesting and fun. Ask your server for the one that wafts up smoke. (Kamata Club Blues) The appetizers were fantastic. The shrimp cake skewers were an array of flavors , each bite starting with a sweet tart dip and ending with flavor of shrimp chunks, highlighted by the pineapple chunks. The Malay Captain's Curry was excellent and we ordered the Pineapple Fried Rice, so we added the curry to the rice as a "topping." The best of the desserts was the coffee flan with a delicate crisp carapace and a rich chocolate drizzle. ... most enjoyable.
