Climb the stairs to the secluded second floor of Primland’s former horse stables and discover traditional Southern food and music at its very best. Available year-round for private parties and events, the rustic Stables Saloon regularly hosts live bluegrass music concerts and is part of the Crooked Road: Virginia’s Heritage Music Trail. On Friday and Saturday evenings, as the strains of a lively banjo drift towards the sunset, feast on barbecued beef brisket, buttermilk fried chicken, smoked pork shoulder, roasted corn and more. The laid back vibe will have you never wanting to leave.

We enjoyed our dinner and the bluegrass music was fun. The service was great and everyone was so friendly. We will definitely come back. We even saw a bear outside the restaurant. :)

Everything sbout Primland was wonderful, with the exception of the food at the Stable Saloon. The brisket was good, but the rest of it was very similar to cafeteria food. The food was also barely warm. It felt like the trays of food were made 30 minutes before they are brought to the table. Music was good, atmosphere is laid back, but the food was definitely far below standard for Primland, and for a $65 per person charge. Many reviews have said similar things, but we wanted to give the restaurant a chance, and regret changing our reservation from Leatherflower to the Stable Saloon. Primland needs to listen to these reviews and improve the offering.

Everything about Primland is incredible except this place. The food was cold and likely was likely cooked a day or two prior to being served. Stick to the two restaurants at the Lodge, both are fantastic.

I thought stables was good! I don’t think I realized what I was getting into before I booked it, and it was a bit kitchy, but it made for a perfect night out while staying at Primland and the live music was great. Just know the food options are not light!

Food quality has greatly suffered. Chewy meats, ribs uneatable, food luke warm. Desserts used to be little works of art, now cookies and dry baked cakes. Not a good value for your money. Band is way too loud, no conversation possible.

Good experience. Food was good (but nothing surprising or special), service was better than most other areas of the resort, the decor was pretty generic, and the bluegrass was great.

Stables continues to be an experience we can count on for good food and fantastic entertainment. All You Can Eat is rare for food of this quality. The staff is warm and inviting, never shy to see if we wanted more of the foods we finished first. We would highly recommend Stables when in the area.
