Enjoy some old-world charm and visit Mount Congreve Gardens for a traditional afternoon tea in the beautifully restored Tack Room. Surrounded by gardens, trees, birds and wildlife, our afternoon tea is served on three-tier cake stands with crisp white linen, Irish silverware, and fine bone china.

Sit back & relax while enjoying freshly prepared finger sandwiches, scones and decadent pastries in the warm country estate surroundings. We offer different afternoon teas, including traditional, vegetarian and gluten-free menus. Cakes are freshly prepared on-site with locally sourced ingredients where possible.
Our afternoon tea is an experience you won’t want to miss when visiting Mount Congreve Gardens.
To avoid disappointment pre-booking is required with a minimum of 24 hours’ notice.

We have enjoyed afternoon tea in several places in England, Scotland and Ireland. This was not what we expected. The service was non-existent unless you got up to find a server. No one checked on us to see if they could provide refills of tea or plates to exchange. The sandwiches were unusual with heavy dressings, but not particularly tasty. Overall, it was disappointing and not worth the trip to the gardens. We had the impression that the cafe was not really geared up to a traditional tea and more ready for a self-service approach. Not recommended for the seasoned traveler.

We had a group of 9 for afternoon tea and it was lovely. The food was great, the tack room is a beautiful setting and the service was outstanding , 5 stars

The tea room was lovely. The table was set beautifully. I was disappointed because I wasn’t given a choice of tea’s. The sandwiches were just okay, not typical for a tea. We did not have a choice of sandwiches so we couldn’t eat all of them. We really dislike crab and didn’t have an option. I also would have preferred clotted cream instead of whipped cream. The jam was sparse, not enough for 4 scones. We were left alone for long periods of time therefore we had to keep replying the same music over and over. I was never instructed how to pay so we waited for quite some time before we went out to find someone.

Loved our visit! Accommodating, delicious and beautiful! Such a memorable event thanks to the wonderful staff at the stable cafe. We had so much food to box up and take home too. Just spectacular in every way. Thank you!!

Overall lovely experience with great food. Only thing I would say is maybe some gluten free scones as an option. This is the first afternoon tea that I’ve never gotten a gluten free scone so was a little disappointing. I would however still go back again as it was a beautiful setting and the food I did receive was delicious!

Enjoyable afternoon tea experience - gorgeous sandwiches and desserts. It was far more than my partner and I could eat, and staff gladly gave us to-go boxes.

One of the nicest afternoon teas I've had. A really good ratio of savoury to sweet. And a lot of food! They happily box up any leftover to take home.

We went for my mother’s birthday and had a fantastic experience. The afternoon tea is served is a separate room to the normal cafe. We were lucky enough to have the place to ourselves. The waitress gave us privacy but came around to offer more tea regularly. The food was good - great portion size. The tea selection was great (option of coffee too). I’d highly recommend the experience to anyone.

Excellent food, beautifully presented. We carried boxes home because the serving sizes were so ample. Although we don’t usually take pictures of our food, the presentation was so lovely, we had to share the experience with a few photos before sampling. The tea we chose was a perfect complement to the food. Those serving the food were appropriately available without hovering and were quite pleasant.

Excellent choice, perfect portions and vegetarian option was exactly right. Everything fresh and plenty of tea/coffee provided- refills on request.
