SS106 Aperitivo Bar is named after a highway which stretches 491 km from Reggio Calabria to Taranto , along the coast Ionian of Calabria , Basilicata and part of Puglia in Italy. We pride ourselves in bringing Italian dishes with a bigger influence of Southern Italian Cuisine. Our motivation of opening this restaurant/bar is to bring the Italian lifestyle and social aspect of Italian Culture to Calgary. Start with cappuccino in the morning to a full meal any time during the day or evening. All our cocktails our made with fresh squeezed juices. Our wine list is extensive. Our menu includes appetizers such as Calamari, arancini, Italian Sausage with rapini and many more options. We have charcuterie boards including an antipasto and a hot vegetarian platter. We have many pasta options with Gnocchi which are made in house. Gluten free and vegetarian options!

This was my first visit and it was great. Food was delicious and our hostess was great in explaining the menu and serving our orders. Definitely will be a return trip.

Great place! Real and very tasty Italian cuisine. We were a big company and all the dishes we ordered were very tasty! My friends and I were delighted with this place! The cocktails also pleased us with their variety and great taste. I highly recommend visiting this place! The prices for food and drinks also pleased us very much.

We’d only been for drinks before, so wanted to try their menu. The service wasn’t great, unfortunately. There were two staff at the time we arrived and the restaurant had just 3 tables. It didn’t take too long, but then it wasn’t that quick either. One server came over and took one drink order and then walked away, leaving the remaining two without an order. I had to ask the other server to finish taking the drinks order. While waiting for drinks, the couple at the table slightly behind us decided to start sharing reels to one another at full volume. It was oppressively loud - the couple should’ve known better, but the staff could’ve asked them to turn it down too. It didn’t help the restaurant was pretty quiet at the time. We ordered the calamari. It arrived fairly quickly, but lacked seasoning and the tomato sauce for dipping tasted right out of the can. We waited for at least 20 minutes after finishing our starter before we had to ask for our mains order to be taken. The server seemed surprised that hadn’t been done yet. We ordered the gnocchi sorrentina - it was fine. The gnocchi was good, wondered if it was pre-shredded mozzarella on top as it didn’t really melt like mozzarella would. We also ordered the Soveratese - my husband said it was good, but the “tuna steak” was few and far between. It looked more like 4 slivers was taken from a tin of tuna. My daughter had the Margherita pizza - she said it was fine. They could go a little crazy adding more basil, the one leaf divided into eight pieces was pretty sad. Would absolutely love to love SS106, but tonight just wasn’t the night.

Great lunch. We had the arrabbiata and the gnocchi funghi. Everything was perfect from to service to spritzes. We finished off with tiramisu and espressos. Highly recommend

Arrived on an early Sunday evening. We were the only customers in the place. We wanted Italian and they had good reviews on their Google listing. The service was good - as you would expect when you’re the only customer. We ordered Calamari, arrived piping hot and was adequate. Nothing special but fine. Also ordered a salad with walnuts and strawberries. For $15 it was a very disappointing size but tasted fine. The entrees are where it fell apart. My husband and I both ordered gnocchi - two different flavours. The gnocchi was GUMMY as heck and the sauce on mine was supposed to be “spicy” but wasn’t even flavourful never mind spicy. I had to ask for a salt shaker to try and infuse SOMETHING to taste. Alas, that didn’t help. I ate about 1/3 of my serving before I gave up. We had ordered carbonara for our granddaughter - it was terribly undercooked and inedible due to how chewy it was. Additionally I have never experienced such a flavourless sauce on a carbonara - the guanciale on top was the only edible part of the entire dish. Such a surprise considering their reviews, but perhaps it was an off evening… or not considering how empty the place was. I am NOT someone to ever send things back, but when the server asked how everything was tasting I was honest but polite. They offered to remake our dishes but I had lost my appetite by that point. They were good about removing the items we did not eat from the bill, but it was still an expensive (for what we had) and disappointing visit to this restaurant.

The bar is as close as one can get to actually being in Roma! The menu (and actual food), service and vibe are excellent. Great place to watch soccer, too.
