The Square Rigger changed owners about two years ago. It used to be my favorite lobster restaurant on the Vineyard. I’m sorry to say it’s not as good as it used to be. Lobster is not even on the menu now! Luckily, they had a lobster special (baked stuffed) which was excellent but not as good as the grilled version which had previously been a regular on its former menu along with other lobster choices. There was no bread or other pre-meal munchies although one could order bread at an extra charge. The appetizers were expensive and sounded large so we didn’t order any. They don’t answer the phone. Reservations are only online so, in the future, I can’t ask if they would have a lobster special. Oh well. Although my meal was good, I expect I’ll now look elsewhere.

Great food. When we got our table we had a very enjoyable meal and service was good. The prices are a bit expensive even for the island. I would note on open table there were tables available for 7:30 or 8:00. We didn't think we would get there by 7:30 so we chose 8:00. The bartender (who it appeared to be filing all drink orders alone and waiting tables so, it seems they are short staff), was a bit flustered so we went outside to the take out window and ordered drinks while we had to wait until 8 for our table.. (which was empty and ready at 7:30 when we arrived.) But we actually enjoyed sitting outside with our drinks and then going on for our table. So all good! But $12 for bread really??!!!!

Totally overpriced tourist trap. The food was cooked well and tasted good, but the portions were tiny. Ordered surf and turf. $80 for a tiny filet and the smallest lobster tail I've ever been served. I was offended when I saw the bill. Priced higher than the Atlantic and not nearly as good.

We miss the prie-Covid menu with plenty of seafood and especially the many lobster versions. Going to Square Rigger for a steamed lobster and a drink was a favorite outing. The current prices are steep too.
