A bold new brasserie sits atop The Oaklander Hotel and overlooks one of Pittsburgh’s most iconic neighborhoods, Spirits & Tales is designed for those with the desire gather around the table. Rooted in the spirit of the original brasserie, it reimagines classic French all-day plates and beloved dishes with inspired veg, locally sourced meats, and expertly prepared seafood. Classic and contemporary converge on the plate and in S&T’s unique interior design. Sweeping panoramic views and modern design are made complete by local details made of hand forged metal. Cocktailers will find a perfect martini service or unique perspectives and preparationsofa vast array of spirits in addition to regularly updated and menu-driven wine and craft beer offerings.

Excellent food and service There should be no valet charge and if there is, it should be much less than $12. Perhaps half / $6

The oysters were superb, and the scallops and salmon mains were heavenly. Service was as usual friendly and attentive. Awesome !

Our server was outstanding!! Attentive, friendly, happy, very knowledgeable of the menu and area. Unfortunately it is hard to find good servers lately. This one deserves 5 stars!! The food was delicious!! We will be back.

Tough for a hotel restaurant to be excellent. Mgr was good. Waiter was good. Just missing a level of enthusiasm that would take it that next step.

DH and I were there for pre- theatre dinner. His duck confit was nicely done. The baked Brie was tasty and filling and my crab cake Binet was very heavy ( to be expected). Service was spot on and knowledgeable. We will return

Nice ambiance, great view. Baked Brie was very good, salmon decent. Chicken with very large portion size. A little pricy. $130 for two people.

Hi. I called today and left a message for someone to return my call. We celebrated my birthday yesterday at Spirits and Tales. While I was mostly pleased, I didn't check my receipt , I gave my debit card and added 20% as I do. When I looked at it this morning, I was charged for 3 glasses of wine when I only had 2. I am not saying this was done intentionally. We sat at the bar for happy hour and had 3 small plates. My husband 2 beers, me 2 glasses of wine. I think the servers got confused as they were both waiting on everyone at once.
