The Sou'Wester Restaurant and Gift Shop began in 1967 as a small five table tearoom at the side of a house at its present location. It has been expanded over the last five decades to a 180-seat restaurant offering traditional Maritime and seafood dishes, and a two-level gift shop with one of the Maritimes largest selections of giftware. Today, more than 50 years later, The Sou'Wester is still run by the family of its founder, Jack Campbell.

The same staff for years. Translates into poor service. The same menu for years. You would think the food would be perfected by now. Nope. The view is spectacular though over the Atlantic Ocean at Peggy’s Cove.

Great service by Cody, a good addition to the restaurant. We had good food and overall experience at SouWester, as always.

Waitress was lovely,helpful and prompt. Fish was terrible as so very greasy…pooled on the plate under and around fish! She replaced a piece each but it was not really any better. I left mine and asked busboy to remove it. Coleslaw was lovely. We did stay for dessert in hopes it would be better…ginger cake was super. This is our 5th time bringing our house guests to Sou’Wester and 1st time having awful fish.

We enjoyed a delicious meal with family on a nice sunny day overlooking the scenic view of Peggy’s cove. Friendly staff added to this very enjoyable dining experience.

You can't beat the location. It's right by the lighthouse and has amazing views of the ocean. Food was pretty good. We had the mussels and they were just ok. The soup was good though. Nice, friendly service.

Our server was excellent. She had been working there for over 30 years and still loved her job. She treated the kids with respect and took great care of all of us. Thanks.

Waiting time was long to be seated and to order and to get the food. Make sure you have plenty of time. Mussels were very fresh, so good! We had a window seat with good sea view.

Great food and even better service! Our waitress always smiled, checked up on us numerous times, offered her input on select dishes and really made us feel special as we dined at this restaurant. Only issue was that our open table reservation was never in their books but they found us room.
