Only had drinks and snacks but they were tasty, especially the rose wine! The waiter who took our order needed us to repeat our order several times, despite it being quite simple. Restaurant was very quiet, few other diners but this was nice as it allowed my friends and I to catch up.

The ambience at Southpour is what always draws me back there, but I find their menu both limited and regularly disappointing, in that they don't have this or they don't have that on the day that I and my friends visit. I FINALLY 'clicked' that Southpour is NOT really a 'cake and coffee' place at all. On the morning that we visited, the only kind of cake available had not yet come out of the oven - at 11.00am. I have NEVER been lucky with the 'cake' choices, each time I've visited Southpour, so shall have to look further afield in future! The service is good - friendly and prompt - though I am NOT a fan of being automatically charged a 10% service fee upfront: I do this anyway whenever I go to a cafe or restaurant. The facilities are clean and pleasant. Southpour is such a congenial place to meet - the restaurant just needs to 'jack up' its menu choice and availability of dishes to gain a couple more stars from me!

The food was good but the service, though very polite and friendly was a bit disorganised- they ‘lost’ our order inspite of it being quite quiet!

Staff were very friendly and helpful. Especially enjoyed the brisket tacos and the cheese board

South Pour is a great place to meet friends for lunch. The menu was a little limited but everyone enjoyed their choices.. Booking is essential!

I'm hoping this was just a bad night for them because it seems a nice place but a lot of the food and beer was unavailable and the staff seemed disinterested. We couldn't get our first choice but the food we did receive was decent. However when we asked for the bill it took an inordinate amount of time before we went to get it for ourselves.

Two of our drinks orders were forgotten and somebody had to go to the bar to prompt them. This kind of thing happens often. Late food, or hard to catch the eye of wait staff or some such

I love the ambience at Southpour, but struggle a little with items 'no longer available' when we visit at a reasonable time (11am) for morning coffee with something sweet and delicious to accompany it. The choice of cake etc was very limited, and the pan au chocolat, which my friend requested, was no longer available, so she just had an ordinary croissant ...... which was obviously not what she had really wanted. I felt that at that early hour in the day, the choice for 'morning coffee and cake' should have been wider. There was only orange chocolate cake available, plus a 'Rocky Road' traybake as the only other alternative. We enjoyed our time there; service is good and pleasant; but I always feel that what I choose may not be available, and I don't believe that is right. Rather reduce the menu, so that what IS offered IS available, especially at that early hour in the day. Kathleen, Edinburgh

Not great, they did not have the food we wanted to order and they did not have the lager I wanted. Also the booth we were shown to had a torn seat. Considering it was 1pm in August during the Festival they should have all the meals on their menu available.
