Located on the edge of Rittenhouse Square and Graduate Hospital neighborhoods of Philadelphia, SouthGate is a twist on the traditional gastropub. Elevating food and drink in a modern but approachable way, the menu and the décor of Southgate are heavily influenced by both our Korean roots as well as modern American culture, preferring to be interesting and friendly rather than trendy.

The menu consists of a wide range of options, including several vegetarian meals. Popular dishes include Korean fried chicken, bulgogi burger, dumplings and buns, kimchi, and beef tartar. In addition to the delectable cuisine, Southgate offers an extensive drink menu that includes cocktails, wine, spirits and an extensive craft beer list.

The wings are amazing! Crispy and delicious. The bibimbop is a great value and well done. It could use a little more meat, but it’s great. The Dolsot stays hot for a long time. So it continues to cook which makes for a crunchy rice that’s good but you’re blowing on your food until the last bite. Which isn’t my thing. Great drinks too

I love this place. It’s a lively neighborhood bar with delicious Korean food and Korean-inspired pub standards. Great (and very popular!) happy hour specials. Everyone working was really friendly, helpful, and relaxed despite how busy it was.

Excellent evening spent at SouthGate. The service was excellent, the servers are very friendly and personable. The food was good, our only gripe was that the food came out too quickly. We barely started on our appetizer before the entree came out. Other than that, it was a really great experience.

The decor was neat but the restaurant was small and tables were very close together. After reading about this place for a while, we were excited to try the food. Our food was good, but did not meet our expectations and the seasoning was bland overall.
