Song Bird by chef Neil Perry AM offers a superlative culinary experience that blends the delicate flavours of Cantonese cuisine with the warmth and fragrance of traditional Chinese cooking. Reflecting Perry’s profound appreciation for Chinese culinary traditions, Song Bird’s menu is designed for sharing and is a testament to Perry’s commitment to cooking with fresh, locally-sourced premium produce.

Situated in Sydney’s Double Bay and set over three levels, Song Bird exudes a sophisticated yet welcoming ambience. Housed in the heritage-listed 1960’s masterpiece ‘Gaden House’, designed by architect the late Neville Gruzman, Song Bird's interior immerses guests in contemporary elegance with a subtle nod to Chinese sensibilities.

Neil Perry AM is one of Australia’s leading and most influential chefs. He has been the Food, Beverage & Service Director at QANTAS for 25+years, creating one of the best dining experiences in the sky.

    Our group dining space in Song Bird is nestled in the tree tops overlooking Double Bay and can accommodate up to 18 guests. Guests are asked to dine on our share-style Expressions of Song Bird Menu at $129 per person, allowing guests to celebrate with a glorious feast of Chef Neil Perry’s signature dishes. To enjoy the full Song Bird experience, diners have the option of enhancing their menu by adding chef’s Menu Supplements.     Perry might do better than this. Really ordinary fare. Eggplant devoid of flavour Evan allowing for Cantonese approach. Great lobster spring rolls. Fatty Peking duck - Mr Perry go to siji minfu please. Crisp sun farm chicken was NOT Somerlad Mediocrity meets double bay. Ha ha.

    Very underwhelming. Recommendation: come here for the duck and that’s it. Very obviously an Australian attempt at Cantonese cuisine, and not in a good way. Peking duck was exceptional but everything else was lacklustre to say the least. Missing the “wok hei” that makes Cantonese fried dishes so delicious. The blends of spices were just imbalanced and wrong; reminded us of the old Spice Temple, which was essentially just copious amounts of chilli oil and not much else. Even the tea was pathetically Australian: under brewed, expensive, and pretty average flavour. Just an insult to easily accessible, economical, flavourful Chinese teas. The price was also simply unacceptable for the serving size and quality. All ingredients were as fresh as it gets but to charge these prices for dishes that pale in comparison to those at a nice yum cha (which are substantially cheaper) is quite ridiculous. Unfortunately, had very high hopes for this restaurant and was let down by everything except the duck. Won’t be back.

    The food ,the service and the ambience here was exceptional. It was quite sophisticated. I could not fault it and either could the people i was there with. I will definitely go back.

    The food was good but coming from Melb and having gone to Spice Temple a number of times we expected more. The ambience down stairs wasn’t great, suggest you try and get an upstairs seating. Service was excellent

    Menu is high quality with great options, food was outstanding, service was on point as were the drinks options. We had the mixed dumplings and prawn toast to start - amazing... into the half duck pancakes... so good... and then the trout and wagyu.... incredible. Finished off with Lychee Granita and the Vanilla Ice Cream...both perfect. Highly recommend Song Bird, our first time there and won't be our last.

    The service was excellent as was the ambience. The food was disappointing and a far cry from Chinese food that I have in China and elsewhere in Sydney. The flavours were fine if you are not looking for those rich aramatic flavours of tried and true Chinese recipes. I have never before been given sugar to put on the skin of the Peking duck to "balance the flavours" This says to me they can't cook the duck properly in the first instance. Why do chefs try and reinvent the perfectly round wheel?
