The Sondes Arms, Rockingham, is a 16th Century coaching inn, with amazing views of Rockingham Castle and Church. Having recently undergone a full refurbishment, The Sondes Arms offers a delightful Bar and Restaurant ideal for every occasion.

We pride ourselves as a family friendly public house & serve a traditional pub menu of home cooked food. In addition we serve our beautiful home cooked carvery all day Sunday and now Wednesday and Friday evenings along with a great range of lagers, ales and wines

The food was fine, and the staff were brilliant. However, sitting in a room where the wallpaper is literally pealing off the wall does not make for a good ambience.

The food was excellent and very good value for money but where we were seated we appeared to have been forgotten as the service was very slow however the very nice young lady serving us did apologise. Very good gluten free options. We will certainly visit again.

Very disappointing food. Starter of stilton mushrooms arrived on a very soggy piece of bread, (previously served in dish with nice ciabatta on side) mushrooms hard and no cheesy taste to brown sludgy sauce. Main of veg curry very bland, dry and luke warm, hunters chicken very dry, bland and burnt all round edges. Not an enjoyable meal.

Great place, lovely welcoming staff, amazing food ( no other roast carvery compares!) The staff were attentive and friendly. We regularly visit for the delicious carvery. Saying that other food on the menu is also delicious. I cannot praise this place enough, we absolutely love it!

A value for money set menu. We had overcooked burgers and burnt rolls. A chilli dish which wasn't chilli. Tough mushrooms . Run out of the wine we ordered and didn't have the beer we ordered. Waitress handled it well but the message from the chef was that chilli was one of the most popular dishes and our expectancy of maybe a quarter pounder not two skinny burgers overcooked was not accepted as it mentioned nothing of a quarter pounder on the menu. I spoke to the manager who was apologetic . The chilli which wasn't a chilli was refunded but the burger meal which was inedible was not refunded. Apologies were made for the lack of beer and wine which was due to a non delivery. We've eaten here a few times but this was a terrible experience especially as we had a guest with us who hadn't eaten here before. I would have liked to put the chef straight on a few things as I found his message via the waitress quite rude . I did offer to take in a bowl of my home made chilli !! We also had an apple crumble...which wasn't apple crumble as you would have it. It was apple and blackcurrant ...I think. It was tasty and edible but not as advertised. Good job you have very polite and helpful people in your resturaunt chef. So, you get what you pay for but in this case we didn't

Very noisy in the part we sat in due to people making far to much noise for a restaurant food was amazing

We had the carvery. Choice of 4 meats with abundance of vegetables, all 6 of us enjoyed it. 3 had puddings which were very lovely, think a few less heavier options would have been nice but could have had ice cream which wasn't written on the menu.

Staff were excellent at discussing and dealing with allergies . That is paramount for family dining out. Food was a bit delayed but that was fine as we were out for a leisurely lunch.

The food was good. Every time I visit here I hope the service will have improved but I am always left disappointed. I spent the vast majority of the evening trying to get the attention of one of the three hovering waitresses to ask for another drink/desert menu/bill. No one checked to see if our food was ok but one waitress was stood chatting with patrons who she clearly knew, but didn’t think to offer any service to us, who was sat on the table directly next to them. It was our last try here as we always hope it has improved, but have left disappointed for the final time.
