Great to see the Solebay Restaurant back open and in fairness like it had never been away. If you enjoy seafood than Solebay in Southwold is the place for you. Good service lovely ambience following the restoration and dog friendly.

The Outdoor fish and chips is as good but cheaper than the restaurant experience. Found everything a bit expensive.eg Baguette and butter £5 and a pot of tea £6. Main crib though is the fact that we were really cold inside the restaurant as were the staff who were trying to place customers near radiators where possible but our food became cold very quickly. Would still come to eat as a takeaway as fish and chips are excellent.

It was good to finally get back to the Smokehouse which we had been visiting for over 20 years - our first time since the fire. We both had haddock & chips and it was just as delicious as we remember it. The service from the three girls was efficient and friendly. The essence of the decor was faithfully restored. We will be returning regularly as before. The only criticism we have is that the chairs we had were lacking in shape and comfort.

We had a lovely lunch and enjoyed the refurbished decor. My only other feedback is the battered fish was nowhere near your usual standard I’m afraid. The fish was thin and chewy in places and the batter thick. First time in many years it was not excellent, as given the high price, a bit disappointing.

Nice to see the Sole Bay has reopened after the fire and recent kitchen re-fit. Our lunch was delicious, service prompt and staff friendly.

Those that had fish and chips ok, those with grilled prawns no so, very small and overcooked. Won’t be coming again.

Superb cooking of seafood. Some top London chefs need to attend and be an understudy for 2 weeks to the chef there.
