The Smokehouse is a renowned and critically acclaimed restaurant based in Islington serving smoked meat and BBQ.
We believe in our product and buy meat direct from the farm and butcher it on site, we receive our fish from small day boats from the south coast of England and only use the best produce available.
We serve a wide selection of great British and European beers/Ales as well as specialised wines bought only from family-run vineyards.

We have a steak board on site which has a selection of dry aged rare breed cuts. We butcher our beef on site daily, providing you with the best British produce. All of our steaks are served with a choice of either Peppercorn Sauce, Bearnaise Sauce or Blue Cheese Sauce.

I really want to like this place, as it’s local, but they do make it difficult. Service is generally inattentive and slow. Food is ok, occasionally better, but not commensurate with the high prices.

Great dining room and garden. Very decent Sunday roast but quality didn’t reflect the premium price point. The main let down was slow and sloppy service.

Overall a solid Sunday lunch, it took us a while to get our drinks, had already been served our food. The roast was great, the meat was incredible, roast potatoes could have been better. Lovely environment and good ambience

We had an awesome Sunday roast experience! The food was delicious and the service was excellent. The beef was done to perfection and the porchetta was tender and perfectly prepared, so good!

I had been to the Smokehouse before and had very good memories of the overall experience but the magic didn't happen this time and this might have been the last time I go there, at least for a sunday roast. Let's start with the bill: way too high compared to other restaurants in the area and for the quality and quantity of the food and drinks ordered. Overall the food was good, we really enjoyed the starters and the desert. The beef and chicken roasts were ok although the potatoes were almost tasteless. When it comes to the service though things didn't go well at all: the waiting times for both the mains and the deserts were ridiculous (about half hour each), the waiter forgot our drink order, we were left with no napkins on the table when the dessert came, and when I asked for plates so that we could share some starters I was given one small plate for the whole table. The waiter apologised several times for the waiting times but no compensation was offered (one free desert, or coffee would have gone a long way here). It's ok to keep the service frugal if that's what you are going for, but you cannot charge the prices of an higher level restaurant at the same time.
