For the last 18 years, Joe Hennes and his wife Ellen have been building a family-oriented meeting place for friends to gather at Sloppy Joe's Saloon and Spoon in Hubertus. In December 2020, they purchased this property, and brought the philosophy of food, fun, and laughter from Washington County to Lake Country. They renamed the property Smoke on the Water to reflect the revamped menu which includes a large selection of home-smoked meat items. Open jams, live music, karaoke and fun events are already a regular part of the experience.

And after a decade of the lower level sitting vacant, they just launched "Below Deck," a brand new state of the art banquet facility and live music venue that accommodates about 250 people.

Whether arriving by land or sea, you'll enjoy Lake Country's best lake-vibe barbecue, cocktails, live music & friends.

It was just OK. It was a Saturday night so the place was busy, but it took 20 minutes to get waters and even longer for our food once we ordered it. By the time it came to the table, it wasn’t hot anymore. Beautiful views though and we’ll give it another shot.

Beautiful view sitting on the deck. Food was delicious and offered a variety of different tasty sides...not just the same old sides. Bread pudding was amazing. Fantastic server. Can't wait to go back!

Shannon was our server. She was amazing! Good was great. Sweet potato fries were so great! Brisket was excellent. Ribs were a little dry. We will be back!

Thank you Jen for the review, We have adjusted our rib recipe and our "smothered" ribs go back in the salamander for 5 minutes so the goodness bakes on. We can't wait to serve you again!

For my first time there, it was a wonderful experience. From, the host (Brian) to our server (LaDainian) to the food and ambience, I will definitely return for their delectable Brisket and perfect Old Fashioned.

The place is obviously popular, as it was packed. It was chaotic. Everything I had ordered they had ran out of so I had to change my complete order. It was 7:30, so I kind of understand but I also kind of don’t. The dishes came out randomly. It wasn’t terrible, just not a place I’m interested in going to again.

Amazing restaurant, the food was so delicious (Brisket appetizer and plates), drinks were perfect, the waterfront table was just what we needed. Although it was 4th of July and it was busy, David took very good care of us. Answered every question, described each item we asked about and even gave us recommendations. We really enjoyed our time and thank you so much for making this day so wonderful.

We went to celebrate a birthday and noted it on the reservation. There was no acknowledgement or special experience. That’s not our typical experience when celebrating a special occasion when dining out. Kinda bummer. Asked for a lean sandwich and was quite fatty and greasy. More than usual when no special request is made. This hasn’t been my typical experience. Usually it is outstanding which is why I requested to dine there to celebrate my birthday.
