Smoke Door Lake Tahoe Saryo is a Japanese-inspired restaurant using primitive wildfire cooking methods highlighting seasonal ingredients from Japan and the Tahoe region.

Our Executive Chef, Tyler Burges, hails from notable restaurants such as Michael Mina, Angler, and the esteemed Saison and is driven by seasonality and innovation.
Nestled in the breathtaking surroundings of Lake Tahoe, it offers an unforgettable dining experience with views of the open kitchen and wood-burning hearth.

Great experience. The avocado toast was unbelievable! Good food overall but still has a little ways to go to get their Michelin star. Don’t forget to check out the bathrooms!

What a special treat to have such a lovely restaurant in the Tahoe area. We had the six course tasting menu and thought everything was perfect. We especially loved the care the staff took to make our experience wonderful. The cocktails were specially crafted to our tastes and were delicious, and the cuisine was amazing. The interior decor made us feel we were in the heart of Japan, and we loved being able to watch the activity in the kitchen from our table. A perfect evening indeed.

Certainly not inexpensive. But it was an experience. we thought we would leave hungry with the purchase of the 6 course meal. But we were not. Of course the rice dish helped fill any void. Beautiful presentation of each dish. The staff was excellent.

Decided to try out the 5 course lunch on a whim as I'd just stumbled upon this restaurant. The food was creative, albeit very rich (I had the Ahi sashimi, pork belly with a soy/vinegar sauce, the Wagyu add-on/replacement which was served with an incredible roasted cauliflower on a bed a fried shallots). Also enjoyed a glass of Sake - I'll be trying the dinner for a special occasion - beautiful presentation to go along with the fantastic food.

Worth every $. The food was amazing. Prepared beautifully the presentation and explanation of every course was incredible. Spend the extra $ on the beverage pairings.

We sat at the bar and ordered from the a’la carte menu. Food was wonderful…albeit a bit pricey. Staff was terrific!

I really love this restaurant it’s my second time it’s really cool experience this restaurant has big sister in Japan it’s a great place to enjoy dinner or lunch they are having fall menu coming pretty soon so I don’t know what it’s going to be like but hopefully something good
