L'un des restaurants les plus prospères des États-Unis, ce steakhouse de New York a ouvert en 1977 et n'a jamais cessé d'être un succès depuis. C'est l'un des restaurants les plus occupé de New York et parmi les plus célèbres steakhouses dans le monde. Spécialisée dans les fruits de mer frais et le homard, les steaks et les côtelettes assortis, Smith & Wollensky est bien connu pour ses grandes portions, son personnel de service saisonné et son ambiance pop Americana. L'extérieur en bois est composé de moulures vert forêt sur des murs blancs. L'intérieur élégant a un style tournant du siècle dernier avec du laiton brillant, des accents de bois sombre et des planchers en bois poli. Adjacent au Smith & Wollensky se trouve le Wollensky Grill. Le Grill (entrée sur la 49th St) est ouvert de 11h30 à 02h00, mais n'accepte pas les réservations.

We had high expectations for Smith & Wollensky, having been recommended it for a special occasion by friends who’d had a fabulous anniversary dinner there. They were treated like royalty, given a complimentary dessert and made a total fuss off so we arrived with this expectation. Sadly, we didn’t have the same experience. The positives - the food was delicious, perfectly cooked, large portions and arrived quickly. The negatives - The lighting is so low that it is hard to see anything and everyone around the table from 12 to 46 commented on this. The service is what really let this place down. It felt like a conveyor belt, get them in, get them out. There was no interaction or personalisation from server. Watching the other servers around us welcome their guests, explain the menu, ask about their day, occasion, wish them well shows we were unlucky but overall I left feeling very disappointed given this was our one big birthday treat for our trip to NYC. Fortunately I know steak cuts etc but it would have been nice to have had this guidance from the server. We had noted birthday on the booking, I was given cards and presents at the table, it was more than obvious but still nothing from our server. In the end, my daughter went and asked the hostess if they could put a candle in the dessert when another server stepped in and stepped up - it was appreciated but overall we were disappointed by the atmosphere, service and wouldn’t recommend this restaurant, especially not for a special occasion.

Our waiter and his assistant were excellent. Great food, great atmosphere. The Blue Point oysters were killer, my prime rib superb. It's not Outback prices, but definitely worth it. This was my second time, can't wait for the next.

Everything was just perfect! Friendly and quick service, at the end of the night even helped us flag down our uber. The food was just delicious, we did the wine night experience and couldn’t have been happier!

We had a wonderful evening celebrating my moms 78th Bday! Luis Ramirez was an excellent server. He was attentive to all of our needs. He made the difference tonight! Food was great with generous portions! We will return.

Special place where you go to celebrate an event. Or you go to crate and event. Food and service cannot be better. People are outstanding. Top steakhouse I have been to and I have been to a couple or two around the country.

This was an amazing dining experience. The service was exceptional. Unfortunately I don’t remember the name of the server but he was excellent. Great advice on the wine and food! Yes this experience came at a cost but well worth every penny!
