Hot fresh food lovely waiting and bar staff maybe a little too noisy if you go there for a catch up and want to talk but didn't bother us we enjoyed the atmosphere

I’ve been to this place before and had a lovely time, however this time was different. Went to the bar to find our table and it could not be found. Eventually found a table. The food and drinks were great but the cleanliness of the floor was not good there was rubbish everywhere.

When arriving there is nowhere to say you need to go upstairs for your booking. There were no staff to be seen we just chanced it going upstairs after standing waiting to find someone for 10 minutes. We then waited over an hour for food yet everyone who came in after us we’re served within 20 minutes and even left.. When we asked about where the food was we were asked what we ordered so we said a platter about and 10 minutes later we were bought the wrong one. When I explained this they asked if I had a receipt which I didn’t just the notification on my Apple Pay as they didn’t give me one. I was asked to go to the bar to explain the situation to the person I ordered with who printed the receipt to prove I’d ordered. I had to explain the situation about 5 times to another staff member then the chef and finally the manager. No one actually offered a solution I was just told the kitchen never received the order so I asked can we have the right thing so they said yes yet nothing else was to be offered by them so I said we’ve waited over an hour we’re starving, going to be late is there nothing else you can do they agreed to a drink each but it was awkward to even have had to asked.

Sadly what was supposed to be an enjoyable start to our evening soon turned into a stressful one. We booked a table for 6pm as we had tickets to Michael Ball and Alfie Boe starting at 8pm, we eventually got our table at 6.15pm We ordered our food and were told that there was an hours wait, in actual fact we waited for an hour and fifteen minutes and only got our food then as we complained. This meant we had to throw our food down our throats and leave. We didn’t have time to eat all our dinner let alone order dessert. Totally unacceptable the table behind us said theirs had taken an hour and a half. This restaurant should be geared up for this sort of volume, staff did nothing with any sense of urgency. This was our first and probably last visit to The Slug and Lettuce. I would definitely not recommend this restaurant in fact would warn others off, such a shame as spoilt our evening.

We waited 40 mins to order or food. An hour later the waiter re took the order as he forgot to put it through. The manager said he’s new and he needs time to bed the staff in. However on walking out it was obviously the manager was one of the lads, not a manager. Clear lack of managerial attention upstairs. Shame as we was really looking forward to our meal.

The waiters took ages to serves us. The food came warm/ some parts of it were cold. Took too long in there!! Not happy at all considering we paid over £40 for average food.

Despite advising one person was vegan and vegan options were on the menu we were unable to order anything vegan! By this time we had drinks so had to pay for them and left to go to Byron Burgers where we had an excellent meal. Very poor being vegan is hardly unusual anymore.
