Skull Creek Dockside Restaurant, dropped its anchor in the Fall of 2017 and forever changed the culinary landscape of the Lowcountry. In early 2017 the partners of the restaurant began to transform it into their vision for Hilton Head's newest waterfront dining destination. This restaurant, which resembles an old-style river house, is full of authentic architecture, reclaimed wood, and nautical accents that leave you feeling like you've stepped into a Melville novel. The sweeping waterfront view is showcased by full pane glass windows throughout the restaurant which you can enjoy no matter where you dine. The covered patio dining area, and massive outdoor bar, the shark bar, allows patrons to enjoy the Lowcountry climate and serve to further highlight the amazing sunset views over skull creek. If you are concerned about long wait times, the good news is the restaurant accepts reservations and provides a family recreation area between dockside and boathouse. Kids and adults can enjoy a variety of games, the very popular shark bar and 'shrimp boat' playground. Kids can play while families are waiting for a table, or simply enjoying the amazing waterfront views.

Great seating and our waitress was fabulous. They were out of some appetizers and entrees by 6:15pm. Hostess kept checking on our table and recording our dinner “progress” which was annoying. Good food but the restaurant was not to the level of our expectations.

Beautiful view and delicious food! All of us were very pleased with our meals. Sunset over the water was special and a great background for our family photos. Loved the early bird/happy hour menu until 5:30pm.

I was very surprised that this is supposed to be a seafood restaurant, but nothing seemed fresh. It's more like a Red Lobster chain restaurant. We checked in for our reservation and were seated. My seat still had pasta on the floor under it from a previous customer. That really turned me off. We ordered appetizers and drinks which were fine. For dinner, I ordered the shrimp scampi pizza and asked for it on a cauliflower crust. I know our server heard me because she asked if I have a gluten allergy. The pizza came on the regular crust. The shrimp were not deveined and looked like it came out of a frozen bag. There is NO reason for shrimp not to be deveined at this type of restaurant. Lastly, the next morning, I received an email from Open Table that it looks like I did not show up for our reservation, so obviously the hostess stand did not check us in properly. This restaurant is coming off my list of places to return to and we visit HHI often.

Busy holiday time and place was “full”. Had a reservation (needed!) and arrived on time. Was seated immediately and greeted by our server. Had a drink, appetizer and our entrees. All very tasty, hot and delicious ! See you again soon.

Enjoyed the food. But, I had made a reservation for six and put a note that it was for an anniversary and we could not be at a high top table because of an elderly family member. Six adults were squished into a booth and it felt crowded with no elbow room. There was a step up to the table which was difficult for our elderly family member (which had been mentioned when making the reservation). Took a very long time for our drink order to arrive and we were given the wrong bill at the end of the evening.
