Music was too loud for dinner service. My meal was delicious but my date's entree (beef and lamb gyro) was barely edible. The meat was so tough she simply left it.

Overall it was good. Service was great but it wasn't real busy even fro a Friday night. Our waitress was exceptionally good. She was very pleasant and very knowledgeable of the extensive menu. Great place for catching sports and have a local brew or two. The current owner is in the process of changing the name of the place, but I have high expectations. I fully recommend that you give them a try and watch their progress as you help them grow. CHEERS!

The City Tavern must still be new and suffering from either a predominantly late-night crowd or low notoriety. At 5:45pm o. Friday, my wife and I made total patronage at 6-7 people in the restaurant. We were seated right away, orders taken immediately, and visited often by our waiter. The food is standard bar-fare and tasty, but not fine dining (my mistake, not City Tavern as "Tavern" is right in the name...). I would recommend as a local hang-out for friends, finger foods/apps, and beer/wine.

All four dinners were prepared well, no problems and food was very good. Our service was excellent and a good value in my opinion. I will return

It may tell you something that we had no trouble getting a table at 7:40 on a Friday night. In fact that was the first hint, because the place was over half empty, and yet they walked us past the nicer areas and sat us right next to another couple, near the kitchen and practically in the bar. They tried to seat another group right after us up against us on the other side, but they objected to being right IN the kitchen door, so they were moved to the other side of the couple next to us. Then another couple was given the kitchen a few minutes later. So, empty tables all over in nice dining areas, and four tables crammed together alongside the bar were stuffed full. I should have asked to move; I usually do because I hate sitting in the bar. If I wanted to watch people drink and be bombarded with TVs, I'd go to a bar. When I go to eat, I prefer a dining ambience and no TV in direct line of sight. But that would have put me closer to the karaoke (more on that in a minute) so it's just as well. Food was just okay. Some interesting items on the menu, and it has potential. But the mashed potatoes were barely lukewarm and kind of watery tasting. The rubbed ribs weren't very tender and tasted kind of processed. The blue cheese steak and steak bite appetizers were pretty good. Nice selection of draft beers. My wife wishes places would quit being snooty and bring back white zinfandel. Worst part was karaoke started up about 20 minutes after we arrived, before our food came. It was way too loud. We had to shout at each other across the table to be heard. I realize it's a bar, but c'mon, let people try to eat in relative quiet until around 9pm or so, huh? Ruined the night. My son is in high school drumline and carries a set of ear plugs on his keychain. I had to borrow them. Wouldn't call this a family-friendly place, really. Seems like they're trying to be more tavern than restaurant, and that's okay, but that's not our style so we probably won't be back.

The food was very good. And drinks are outstanding. It's like a semi classy sports bar. I will be returning!

City Tavern was absolutely fantastic! Adam, our server, was cordial, personable, but never kept bugging you like " Can I get you this or can I get you that". Very professional and new everything about the menu. The liquors were very generously poured and the food was absolutely fantastic. I had a "make your own pizza" and when it was delivered, I'm thinking, there is no way I'll eat all of this. Well I did and it was terrific. Gail had a " make your own burger" and it was out of this world. If you haven't eaten there yet, you need to check it out. A tremendous bang for your buck, especially if you're a college student. We will be back.

This restaurant needs to figure out their identity. Are they going for a sports bar or an old world pub theme? The menu is all over the place from burgers/pizza/wings to shepherds pie and surf & turf. I ordered the pizza and it looked like a toddler rolled the dough, it was under cooked and still had flour all over the bottom and the marinara tasted like it came straight from a jar. Only plus side was that it was cheap and our waitress was cool.
