Silver Dove Afternoon Tea is a full service tearoom in Downtown Boston specializing in English style afternoon tea service. Steps from Government Center and the Freedom Trail, an experience at Silver Dove includes a pot of tea and a curated selection of finger foods. The food is a set menu and fixed price consisting of a variety of finger sandwiches, savory canapés, cakes, scones, macarons and other pastries which rotate seasonally.

We offer 90 minute reservations for afternoon tea Wednesday through Sunday. Reservations are available up to six weeks in advance. We can accommodate parties of up to six guests on weekends, and parties of up to twelve guests Wednesday through Friday.

We serve a wide selection of teas and herbal infusions from around the world and of various styles. We also provide a selection of craft cocktails and mocktails, as well as sparkling and still wines.

Our kitchen is completely gluten free (and oat free). We are independently owned and operated.

This is the best afternoon tea I’ve had in the US. The scones were everyone’s favorite part; but the rest of the meal was also outstanding. Kudos to Silver Dove for providing this service.

We had such an enjoyable experience at Silver Dove today. We had the full late summer menu and everything we had was tasty and refined. We were thoroughly satiated and so took some of our dessert course home to enjoy. The server was very helpful in recommending a tea based on our preferences and we look forward to going back to enjoy the fall menu soon!

My friend and I had a wonderful evening at Silver Dove Tea Room. We loved the decor, especially the green velvet banquette. They had a great selection of teas including many caffeine free (which was great since we dined on a Wednesday evening and didn't want to be up all night). We both very much enjoyed the Parakeet drink made with spicy tequila. The food was excellent from the warm scone to savory sandwiches and the desserts - all were top notch. We had fun discussing our favorites at the end. Service was excellent - friendly and attentive. I also personally appreciate their 15% service charge as it makes it easier to split the bill at the end of the night. This was my second time enjoying tea at Silver Dove and I hope to go back again soon!

First of all, I love that they are a dedicated gluten free option for afternoon tea. The location is lovely and the staff was great. Tea options were also on point. The scones and sweets were good. However, having been to numerous afternoon teas in the UK that were not dedicated gf but provided a fully gf tea, I will say the sandwiches here were disappointing. The toppings were good, but I think a place that specializes in gf tea could work out something better for the bread that doesn’t necessitate the sandwiches being open faced and the bread being toasted and crunchy. We didn’t ask for additional sandwiches so I’m not for sure, but the menu seemed to indicate an additional charge. At traditional afternoon teas, I have always been offered more sandwiches as part of the price once we finish the first round. Usually we decline because the sandwiches are filling enough, but with the one piece of bread, they were somewhat paltry. All said, it was a nice time but not sure I would go again, and for the price, I felt a little bad for bringing my non-gluten free friends along.

I decided to try having tea at the Silver Dove based a Chronicle Story. Unfortunately, because I have had tea at other restaurants in Boston and in other cities. I was not as impressed as I expected I would be. The food was okay but not great and the space is tight and somewhat noisy. Based on my experience I think the Afternoon Tea is overpriced for what is provided.

The tea at Silver Dove was fabulous! A wonderful treat of an afternoon! Food and drinks were amazing and the service was spot on. Highly recommend this!
