Modern Cafe Culture in the heart of Chester.
Whether it's a coffee in the morning, a light lunch on the terrace with a glass of wine from our eclectic selection, to an intimate dinner for two in the restaurant, we aim to offer something for everyone at every time of the day.
If you're not hungry join us for drinks in our bar area where you can sample some of our delicious in house cocktails.

Fantastic food and service as usual! Hadn't tried this menu so went for the Frickles, House Burger, Schezuan Fries and the Pumpkin Tortellini - all delicious!

Vegetables treated with the upmost care and transformed in to incredible dishes. As a vegetarian chef I can say I was throughly impressed with the quality and taste of every dish we were served. We had one large plate and 4 small plates and squeezed in a dessert and every dish was outstanding.

Really good vegan food, a little bit pricey but every plate was very nice. The ladies serving were very attentive and helpful. Great place!

The atmosphere and food in Shrub were excellent and it served as a highly suitable venue to meet and catch up with a friend whilst enjoying tasty and well produced mains and dessert.

My and my friend’s first visit - I’m not vegan, but she is vegetarian, so we went to Shrub as I was curious to try. Really loved the spacious setting, and the menu is so good - small plates would allow to try 5-6 different meals between the two of us. All nicely served and tasty. Good espresso too, which you won’t find in many places. Attentive but not pushy service, we really had a good time, and will visit again. Thank you.

A wonderful evening spent at Shrub! The service was exceptional, food stunningly presented and the flavours outstanding. I would highly recommend this restaurant whether you’re a vegetarian or not.

Only one of our party is vegan , but we all really enjoyed the food which was delicious. Service was great too - all the staff were really friendly and there was a lovely atmosphere in the restaurant . Will definitely return and recommend to other friends
