Located in the heart of Great Bowden, a quintessential village on the outskirts of Market Harborough, The Shoulder of Mutton provides a unique Gastro/Classic Pub experience, boasting a large casual dining area and restaurant with access to our new garden area (coming Spring 2024).

Chef Luke is well known for his hearty meals including Sunday Roasts, Pie Nights, Tasting Evenings and Summer BBQs! With the opening of our "Whisky Cabinet", we are coming up with new and innovative ways to taste an array of cuisines with some top notch drinks to match.

With the canal literally down the road, you can walk here pleasantly from Market Harborough or even the Langtons, providing the perfect stopping point for a light bite or fill your face with one of our homemade burgers!

Amazing, friendly welcome & attentive service. Beautiful sunday roast dinner & Eton mess for afters. Would highly recommend & will definitely come back

We have eaten there multiple times and this time it was busier than normal. So the service was not quite up to the normal standard and it seemed that some of the staff we new to the pub. Drinks were forgotten and the food took longer than normal to arrive. We were not shown to our reserved table as it was not reserved, we were just told to sit anywhere there is a space for four. Not much point in booking a table or a time if they aren’t going to reserve a table. May just as well turn up. But on the brighter side the food was again excellent and the staff are always friendly and a great atmosphere in there it really is a nice place to be. Would i recommend it, absolutely, maybe just my previous visits have been so good this was slightly up up to their usual standards. Plus there was no steak. It was only 7:30pm booking. So again disappointing as that was my choice of meal. The landlady is always very pleasant, so thanks to her again for a good evening!!

Friendly service and an outstanding Sunday roast!..Great sizes portions, certainly don't go away still hungry lol overall a lovely experience definitely worth returning to !

This was a really friendly and well run smart pub. The menu was varied and interesting - especially the daily options on the soup and pies, and the food excellent. There were not many other diners in on the evening we went but this did not detract from the welcome feel and ambience.

Sunday lunch did not disappoint. We came away feeling happy and full! Well recommended. Advance booking may be needed.

such a nice surprise. I am from NYC and was expecting another nice countryside British pub. It was great, many menu choices, a good variety of wines and deserts. Comfortable and casual the service was very good. Definitely a place I will return too and recommend

This was our first visit to the pub and we were not disappointed. It's lovely and clean inside. It has a nice garden area. The young lady who served us (Ellie?) was very friendly, efficient, and helpful. We both had a starter and a main course and were very pleased with our choices. It is a good menu with plenty of choice. I looked at the lunch menu too and that also has a very good choice and some special offers. I would definitely recommend eating here.

Decent selection on the menu, plus good drinks options. Food was tasty, service was excellent, young lad & lass on duty were very friendly. Worth a visit.
