Located in the heart of Great Bowden, a quintessential village on the outskirts of Market Harborough, The Shoulder of Mutton provides a unique Gastro/Classic Pub experience, boasting a large casual dining area and restaurant with access to our new garden area (coming Spring 2024).

Chef Luke is well known for his hearty meals including Sunday Roasts, Pie Nights, Tasting Evenings and Summer BBQs! With the opening of our "Whisky Cabinet", we are coming up with new and innovative ways to taste an array of cuisines with some top notch drinks to match.

With the canal literally down the road, you can walk here pleasantly from Market Harborough or even the Langtons, providing the perfect stopping point for a light bite or fill your face with one of our homemade burgers!

Sunday lunch did not disappoint. We came away feeling happy and full! Well recommended. Advance booking may be needed.

such a nice surprise. I am from NYC and was expecting another nice countryside British pub. It was great, many menu choices, a good variety of wines and deserts. Comfortable and casual the service was very good. Definitely a place I will return too and recommend

This was our first visit to the pub and we were not disappointed. It's lovely and clean inside. It has a nice garden area. The young lady who served us (Ellie?) was very friendly, efficient, and helpful. We both had a starter and a main course and were very pleased with our choices. It is a good menu with plenty of choice. I looked at the lunch menu too and that also has a very good choice and some special offers. I would definitely recommend eating here.

Decent selection on the menu, plus good drinks options. Food was tasty, service was excellent, young lad & lass on duty were very friendly. Worth a visit.

The wedges with steak were over cooked - option for fries would have been better The prawns were small and tough Whitebait and ribs were good Steak was good with a little bit of gristle Very good service

Firstly the food was great, great value too . But your poor staff was run ragged , tables not being cleared ,had to ask for drinks didn’t even get offered dessert we had to ask and got a huff when we did . A loud band playing wasn’t the best either so loud we asked to move and saw another table move too back ground music great not at top volume . Such a shame to leave a review like this as we have been loads and never had a problem .
