    Amazing food. Great items for the new menu. Definitely recommend. Servers are all amazing. Bree was very attentive.

    The duck was undercooked and rubbery... the salmon was dry. The asparagus was thick and tough. I was surprised and disappointed. On the other hand, the garnishes were beautiful.

    If you want it top drawer this it. No complaints. Service, ambience and food were great. The facility is also.

    I’m picky and rarely complain, if I don’t like a restaurant I just write them off. I hold a degree in restaurant management and worked a high scale restaurant in NYC so I feel qualified to critique, with that said; 4th visit to Shoemakers, last was in 2019 when I swore I would never return do to the arrogant and condescending waiter and host we had. I returned this week because my guests live near by and I felt shoemaker deserved another chance. Glad I did, service was low key and pleasant a little slow considering there was one other table plus a group in the restaurant. Food was excellent, price I felt was a little high for Lynchburg VA but again that seems to be the new normal everywhere.

    The setting is lovely and the decor warm and relaxed. The food was somewhat disappointing however. All in all a lovely place and would be worth the price if the preparations were better executed.

    I absolutely enjoyed my visit at shoemakers. There were mostly high point with a couple med points in the evening. The service was really good. I love our waitress. Nice attentive and knowledgeable about her menu. Made the vist enjoyable! Ordered the salmon and ribeye. With the soup doujour as an appetizer. The soup was absolutely fantastic! Don't change a thing! The salmon was "slightly undercooked and under seasoned? But that can be subjective to taste as well. I would say the same for the ribeye. All in all everyone I dealt with was nice and courteous. The restaurant was clean. And most importantly all made our evening very enjoyable! Thank you.

    Love having dinner here. This was a special occasion and we were provided champagne for a toast. 🙌🏻 Our waitress was knowledgeable, friendly and attentive. The 4 of us chose a variety of cocktails and entrees. Our table shared the goat cheese appetizer. Steaks were “market price” (aka uber expensive) although precisely cooked and delicious. Only one in our party ordered the duck, but was disappointed.

    This is an outstanding restaurant. The food was well beyond expectations and the portions were ample. The vegetables were cooked perfectly and the meat was a perfect medium well and richly tender! The service was friendly, non-intrusive, and competent.

    Shoemakers has a new chef and it was fantastic!!! We have eaten there for many years and we were so glad to experience great food again. Jackie provided exceptional service. If you have been disappointed give it another try. The wonderful experience is back!!

    First time to Lynchburg and found this place to be perfect for a quiet romantic dinner. The menu is not large but includes everything anyone would want and our lamb shank and filet were perfect.
