Drawing on Turkish heritage and tradition, Shish’s ethos is borne out of a desire to create a hub as the heart of the home, centred around the fire hearth where cooking and families come together and share in the occasion. Shish is a one of the first Dry Bars (No alcohol) in Edinburgh, stocking all the fine wines available, Champagne, Spirits, Popular Cocktails and Beers but all containing zero alcohol substitutes such as Zero percent Rum, Whiskey and Gin.

Great venue good for small and large groups. Really good service and fabulous food would definitely recomend. The grill platter is great value for money. Please note it has a dry bar no alcohol is served, however plenty of non alcoholic versions of wine beer and spirits available.

I had seen a lot of people of Middle Eastern and Asian appearance using this restaurant and, from the outside, it looks very plush so thought I'd give it a try. We arrived slightly early as I'd managed to get a parking space directly outside the venue - although it's not the venue's fault, readers should be aware of the extortionate parking prices for this area (as it's the City Centre). For 2 hours parking, I paid £12! Also, I hadn't noticed this venue had put a time limit of 90 mins on our booking so it was pointless paying for so much time! We had to wait for a table to be cleared before we were shown to it. I thought that was strange as the venue was not that busy and there were plenty of other tables free that we could've been seated at immediately. The menu was limited, in my opinion, and I plumped for the mixed grill platter to share with my wife whilst the 2 kids shared something else (sorry but I can't remember what it was right now!), and we started off with the cold platter of mixed meze along with sigara boregi (cheese in rolls of pastry). The starters were amazing - really packed with flavour and I was looking forward to the mains. However, I found they'd vastly overcooked the meat which left it dry and, in some parts, burnt and crispy. That's not to say it wasn't tasty or unpleasant - this only applied to some parts of the platter. The portion size was good and we were all satisfied but the bill came to £140 for the 4 of us and, as the kids shared a meal, it was only for 3 meals (and the starters) which I didn't feel was good value - especially for the quality of the main meal. All in all, it was okay but there are better Middle Eastern restaurants in the city so I'll be trying them the next time my family and I go out.

Food is obviously freshly prepared and served hot. Service is friendly and attentive. They do serve beer and be advised it's only non alcoholic

Not really familiar with Turkish found beyond the usual Donor Kebab, but this was a real treat. The lamb kofta and chicken casserole were absolutely delicious. Service was vey good and the restaurant is vey nice inside. We will be back again.

Great food, nice service but be aware:no alcohol at all, therefore yr small coke bottle costs almost £4!

Seated quickly in the bustling restaurant, orders taken promptly and food quickly followed; hot and tasty. Service was with a smile and nothing too much trouble. We’ll be back!

The food was very good as was the atmosphere. We were surprised to find out that the restaurant is alcohol-free when we went to order a bottle of wine. The couple sitting next to us felt the same. It is not clear on their website unless you pay very close attention
