Standing high above the city on the 10th floor of the City Club Apartments, at 309 Vine Street; resurrected from the history that has stood here before our time, Shires' Rooftop is inspired by the first amusement resort in this part of the country, Shires' Garden. Though the original Shires' Gardens burned to the ground, "in a most picturesque fire," the legacy that was left behind is everlasting and an integral part of the Queen City's history. The creation of the Matinee Performance, the regal guests Shires' hosted, an unsolved murder and other noteworthy events that took place at the original Shires' Gardens, are an inspiration to our program that we look forward to sharing with you.

My friends and I dined in for my birthday last night. First of all, our service was terrible. We weren’t greeted for over 15 minutes. He didn’t ask if we wanted more drinks when our drinks were empty- we had to ask him. He was extremely rude and stand off-ish. Second of all, none of us were pleased with our meals. I didn’t even eat my meal and wasn’t asked why or if I wanted something else. The chicken was extremely over cooked with no seasoning and the asparagus tasted burnt. He knew it was my birthday as my friend told him when we sat down. Didn’t even get offered a birthday dessert and didn’t even get told happy birthday which was so weird. This place is extremely overpriced. You would think the service would have been impeccable since it’s supposed to be “up scale” however it was awful. 1000% would not recommend anyone eating here. I will not be back. Literally ever.

This was the most amazing experience!!! We had exceptional service with Elizabeth and Justin. The atmosphere was incredibly warm and relaxing. The music was soft and inviting. The food made my belly extremely happy. Everything we ordered was delicious. I am looking forward to the next date night at Shires!

Food and drinks were perfect! Outside seating was a nice view. Our waitress was very kind and efficient. Music outside was a tad loud but maybe we were near the speaker. No complaints here, would totally go again.

Great vibe in the restaurant. Food was good but a bit overpriced. Drinks were definitely overpriced! Unlikely to return.

We came here for brunch. The restaurant itself is very pretty and a great atmosphere. I would suggest being a roof top bar to have more umbrellas for shade. It was 10am, but got uncomfortably hot. There were only two tables that fit under the shade umbrella. The rest were in the sun, and it was uncomfortable. The menu states fresh squeezed orange juice, but the waiter was transparent and stated they do not have that anymore. The food was okay. The descriptions are great, but the presentation is a little lack luster.

Mediocre food and service were disappointments, especially given the high price. Wait staff seemed unfamiliar with food and wine specifics, and were disheveled. Short rib dinner was not "pepper encrusted" as described (I specifically asked the wait staff about this before ordering it). The cut was more like chuck roast than short rib, there was significant fat within it, and it had very little flavor. Carrots and parsnips were unevenly and mostly undercooked. And despite calling ahead and asking for something, nothing special was offered or even acknowledged for my daughter's 50th birthday celebration.
