Having always been at the heart of Valley life, the 17th century Shibden Mill Inn was originally a corn and spinning mill, before being converted into a country pub in 1890.

Today’s visitors are welcomed with warm hospitality to enjoy first class dining against an inviting backdrop of open fires, low beamed ceilings and a cosy bar. Eleven individually styled bedrooms make comfortable and luxurious retreats, epitomising boutique country style and featuring lots of thoughtful touches.

And if you can drag yourself away from the Inn, there are wonderful walks from the doorstep and world class attractions within easy reach. For a spot of retail therapy or a cultural fix, Halifax is a 10-minute drive and Leeds is just 30 minutes away.

One of the most enjoyable dining experiences ever. The food is just incredible, the service is brilliant and the overall experience is just top drawer. I couldn’t recommend it highly enough.

We had the tasting menu with wine flight. Food was delicious, not too fussy, and portions well controlled Wine pairings good and not miserly! Wonderful staff who were knowledgeable and not formal at all. Definitely one to do again - we stayed overnight and had wonderful accommodation followed by a delightful breakfast.

The food was excellent, second time I have been now both times equally as good. Staff are all very friendly and there was a very nice touch bringing out a birthday treat for our Grandma. Thank you!

Had high hopes but didn’t live up to what I had heard. Went for a Sunday Roast. The beef was lovely but everything else was just ok. Nothing spectacular.

The Restaurant was cold and dark, and the seating cramped. We asked for a different table as the window seat was uncomfortable. This was given to us. Service was satisfactory. The roast beef was fatty and grisly and small in quantity. The Yorkshire Pudding was dry and a little tough. The meringue in the rhubarb dessert was very hard. The usual apology was given by the waiting staff but we felt that no action would be taken and our complaints would not be passed on to the kitchen. There was no comment or feedback from the Restaurant Supervisor. The leek and potato soup and bread were very nice. We would have expected better toilets in an establishment which is at the more expensive end of the market.

We went for lunch to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Food was very good as were the staff. The Inn is full of character and makes the dining experience especially nice. It was our 3rd visit and it didn’t disappoint.

This really is a gem. We have visited many times but stayed for the first time last night. The food is excellent, the service is faultless. If you want a quiet night or two away with a great place to eat I cannot recommend this place highly enough…a true hidden Yorkshire gem.

Myself and my partner visited on Sunday for a Sunday lunch we often visit the mill inn but had not eaten inside for sometime , always a warm welcome and seated to our table straight away we had the 2 course Sunday menu , I had the cod fish cake which was to die for absolutely delicious my partner had the chicken parfait which he said was really good , to follow I had the roast beef which was served with roast potatoes mashed potatoes green beans red cabbage and cauliflower cheese I really enjoyed it the beef was cooked pink just to my liking and the veg was beautiful, my partner had the beef cheek which he said melted in his mouth and very tasty , he also asked for a extra Yorkshire pudding him been greedy and this wasn’t charged for which I thought was lovely great food atmosphere and service , my only negative would be the automatic service charge on the bill , I like to tip for good service but at my own discretion I believe this is a new system as I’ve not noticed it on my previous visits
