Great starters (papaya salad, chicken corn hot and sour soup and aromatic duck) and desserts (panna cotta and sorbets) but very disappointing mains - sea bream (cooked well but not much taste or flavour promised in the description), chicken black bean (lacking flavour and runny sauce which appeared to be the same as the sea bream on a short menu anyway), desi vegetable noodles (too salty) and jasmine rice (some grains still undercooked). It was confirmed that the kitchen was very busy attending to two three large party groups who arrived soon after our arrival. They were having the food from the Yaatra Indian restaurant which shares the same premises and kitchen. Very disappointing all the same as we have had really good food at Yaatra on a number of occasions with family. Hoping to have a better food experience at Shanghai Noir next time. The indo Chinese mains food quality and standard has to be much higher than what we experienced. Abhishek gave us attentive and professional service.

We dined there with the September special. It was good value with the offer. Not sure will pay for full price.

Nice ambience, we enjoyed the set menu. I had the clams which were beautifully presented and tasted yummy. The next course was chicken in black bean sauce which was ok but could have done with a more intense favour. Finally the mango dessert my favourite a must if you like mango. Throughout the waiter was attentive and very helpful. He just had attention to detail. Always making sure my water was topped up, table clean of any spilt food and good suggestions. A very pleasant experience

Visited for lunch, taking advantage of the 50% off food offer. The starters small plates were amazing, scallop, prawns and the sizzling lamb were our favourites. The crispy duck was a little too crispy but still very tasty. Waiter happily moved us to a lovely corner table which was nice and quiet with a great view of the restaurant. Lovely staff, great ambience and very tasty food.

What a fabulous meal we had here. The food was 10/10 and so was the service. Great offer too with 50% off food. I’d definitely recommend this restaurant.

The staff were excellent. Our starters were delicious. The main course was a little salty and standard, but we had a lovely evening.

Restaurant is situated within another restaurant called Yaatra in Westminster old fire station,downstairs. Staff are slow to acknowledge you on arrival and bad for following up on service;we had to constantly call them over even though the restaurant was not fully booked. Eventually when order was taken,starters were well cooked and presented well. Main course was equally well presented but sauces accompanying main ingredient was too salty which spoilt the meat or fish. The restaurant is trying to create a pan fusion taste of Chinese/Indian but have not got the mix quite right. We have visited the restaurant above several times and food there is very impressive as is the service. Shanghai Noir is very expensive £24 for 1 bottle of water & £9 for 4 bits of steamed broccoli. We also asked for a Masala Chai tea to finish but it was not a brewed tea,it was a tea bag;we were only told this when we queries upon serving - bearing in mind this is an Indian restaurant upstairs,it is not acceptable to make an Indian tea from a tea bag;tea was returned and was deducted from final bill. I was disappointed that the restaurant did not live up to reputation and am not likely to return, unless there are improvements.

Barely anything on the La carte menu to choose from. Literally had one starter which was very dry and a glass of water. The restaurant itself is aesthetically pleasing but that’s about it.
