Our newest addition to Main Street Patchogue. Located in one of the most historical buildings on Main Street once owned and operated by James G. Shand and his family for around 100 years. Chef Francis Derby brings you a menu focused on seasonality and sustainability with continental cuisine ranging from a raw bar selection and local farm produce to house made pastas and dry aged steaks. Our beverage menu is an eclectic mix of cocktails curated by seasoned bartenders and a wine list from around the world.

The food and service were absolutely wonderful. I enjoyed the cocktails very much, especially the Hudson. I will definitely recommend the steak tartar and yuzu buttermilk fried chicken to anyone who goes. But the place was so loud! I think there needs to be some noise dampening installed somehow because my husband and I had to lean in close to each other and raise our voices just to have a conversation.

Went to Shands on a Sunday at 430. The decor is beautiful and the place has 3 distinct areas for seating. The front room along Main Street is very bright and inviting with very large windows. The bar area has an industrial look to it with large booths to back of patrons sitting at the bar. The area where we were sat was windowless but well appointed and dimly lit. The lower ceiling and the way the room is cordoned off from the rest of the restaurant made the room feel cozy and quiet and made us feel like we were in our special section - which was perfect for our anniversary dinner. The waitstaff was very attentive without being overbearing. We ordered a salad and 2 entrees and a side. The waiter asked if we were sharing everything, which we were, and so he made it a point to bring everything out essentially as different courses which worked out great because the table was on the small side and having all of this sharing space would be a lot to fit. The tahini Caesar salad was one of the best salads I have ever had. The caccio and chili pasta was delicious. The portion size was a bit small but that might just be my wofe and I being greedy because we wanted a lot more of it. We ordered the burger and the seared broccolini- both of which were very good. A side note, they recommended medium rare on the burger which I would normally go with but my wife prefers it a bit more cooked. I asked for medium but we both felt that it came to the table closer to medium rare- but definitely not a deal breaker and we both enjoyed it. We had 3 cocktails between us, and all were made very well and delivered promptly. Highly recommend the franny pack. The old fashioned was also on point. At this price point Shands will likely remain a special occasion restaurant for me but you are definitely getting dollar for dollar quality with service, food, and atmosphere.

The fried chicken may be the best I’ve ever had - don’t skip dessert, it’s worth saving room!

Shands was incredible!! I love this new spot in Patchogue and I will 100% be back. The waiter was so kind and helpful when we were ordering. Food was delicious and drinks were great as well!!

Drinks: As expected considering how good the drinks are at The State Room, every cocktail we had was great. Flavorful, not strong, and refreshing. Also pretty inventive and not just the classics. Food: We were so glad that the food quality was at the same level as The State Room, and maybe even higher! We had the chopped cheese as a starter and it was one of the most full of flavor dishes I've had in a while. We did the duck breast for two as a main and it was perfectly presented and cooked. Location: They did a great job with the renovation. The place looks modern, stylish, and the huge windows at the front make it a perfect choice for a summer day meal. They also had great live music which was a nice surprise. Service: This is where they truly excel! Everyone at the staff was attentive, full of energy and at no point we felt we needed to call someone's attention. Amazing they were able to open with a well functioning system right from the start. Price: It's not cheap, so be prepared for that! The price is worth it for the quality you get though. We will definitely be back, Shands has taken one of the top spots in our favorite Long Island restaurants.

Shands General has quickly become my go-to spot for the memorable dining experience even on the first night . From the moment you step inside, the ambiance captivates with its beautiful decor and inviting atmosphere. The bar, a centerpiece of the restaurant, offers an impressive array of drinks that cater to every palate! Each dish is meticulously portioned and bursting with flavor, showcasing a blend of creativity and culinary expertise I had my experience in the chefs food from the stateroom and it just keeps getting better ! their exceptional service. The staff is remarkably attentive, ensuring that every need is met with genuine care and professionalism. During my visit, they even personalized a drink to match my preferences shout out to Francis my fav bartender highlighting their dedication to creating a personalized dining experience. I’m definitely going there if I’m celebrating a special occasion or simply looking to unwind after a long day . Look forward to many more visits and discovering new favorites on their evolving menu. Highly recommend !!

Grand opening night! The food was delicious and just the right size portions to share and sample all the different options suggested by our server. The server was great and very attentive to our needs. Very elegantly decorated and beautiful ambiance throughout the restaurant.

Beautiful place with delicious food, staffed with delightful, attentive people makes for an amazing place to eat. That’s exactly what Shands is, and more! If you are looking for a step up from the norm in Patchogue this is the place to be! It has some of the special touches from its sister restaurant The State Room along with its own takes on food for the whole family! They just have done really everything right! Their attention to detail is amazing, right down to their music being played at a volume that adds to the ambience and even allows for conversation at our table! The decor is beautiful throughout! So well done! Great food, great people, great decor makes this a place we will visit often and highly recommended!
