The food was very good and when my brunch companion pointed out that he asked for a salad with his omelette but was given potatoes, the server quickly brought him a salad to remedy the mistake. The only problem was that there's really nothing to absorb sound so the many customers partaking of the bottomless brunch drinks were speaking and laughing so loudly that my friend and I could barley hear one another even when speaking in elevated tones.

The food and drinks were sensational. Given the acoustics and energetic diners, the noise level is quite high, so this is a good fit if you want that kind of vibe, but not if you want a quiet dinner.

Good food however they asked us to move to another table after our appetizers so they could fit in a larger party. It was as very noisy.

Busy but not overwhelming restaurant environment. Seated right away for our reservation. Host was pleasant but server was rushed and unapologetic about being out of things at every stage of our ordering. It started with the bottle of wine we ordered, pasta for 2 of us and finished with the espresso for our martinis. He didn’t apologize or offer suggestions. He admitted to watering down our espresso to make our martinis only when we tried to order another. Manager came over and was also not helpful or sympathetic. The food they had in stock was absolutely delicious but the service leaves something to be desired

I ordered the Cacio e Pepe. It’s tricky to make but a good Italian chef should have problem. This time they’d not taken care and abused the cheese. It separated so that there was 1/3 inch of (basically) melted butter at the bottom of the bowl. Kinda sickening. Yeah I should have sent it back. My bad? But I think thst any chef with dignity shouldn’t have let this come out at all. And any waiter worth his tip shouldn’t have brought it.

We had family visiting DC from Australia. They suggested Italian. I just picked this restaurant based on cost, as we were a party of 6. Our guests arrived before us and had appetizers. With that & one bottle of wine, a couple of beers & main course, our bill came to $245. The restaurant is very open. It was loud and difficult to hear the person sitting across from you. The food was delicious and our guests raved about it. On a weekend night (Fri-Sat), a reservation is a must. I'd definitely go back. Added bonus was the parking garage (altho outrageous price $21) is right next door on R Street.

Picked Sette for an office holiday dinner and everyone loved it. The service was great! Location is awesome! Good was tasty!

The service varies wildly from time to time. The first time we went, it was awful, and we attributed that to the place being busy. We gave it a second and third chance, and the service was fantastic. But last night was not a good experience. It was the first time we ate indoors at Sette. When we ate outside, we took advantage of Happy Hour specials. But indoors, we were told we had to sit at the bar--this after we were seated. It made no sense. It was not crowded. Why couldn't they serve us where we were rather than make us get up and go sit at the bar? But we couldn't find two seats together at the bar, so they let us sit at a high top when we said we were leaving. Then we ordered a pizza but they said they had no cheese for that pizza? Really? That made no sense, and then the waiter came back and said yes, they could put cheese on the pizza. No kidding. They were also out of anchovies. The hostess was snooty and could not care less about any of this. Maybe she thinks she is working at La Tomate. News flash: Neither the service nor the food at Sette is that good. But the food itself was good. I don't know why the quality of service varies so much or what the hostess's problem was. It was not particularly busy.
