Sète (named after the coastal town in France) is a wine bar, shop, and kitchen.

Our doors opened to the wine bar in October 2022 and the restaurant and garden in July 2023. The seasonal menu focuses on modern European cooking with a heavy French influence, highlighting the best produce Kent has to offer.

Wine is certainly at the heart of what we love. With an ever evolving list that highlights old world classics, accessible natural wines, female winemakers and exciting next generation vintners. We also serve a seasonally changing list of wine on tap and host private tastings.

Behind Sète is Natalia Ribbe who has worked across restaurants in Vienna, NYC and London, as well as the founder of the female collective; L.O.R.

In the kitchen is Head Chef Billy Stock who joins us from The Rose Inn in Wickembraux, St. John, The Marksman and Rochelle at the ICA to name a few.

Booked in for the guest chef and wasn't disappointed. The restaurant itself feels like a French bistro and the food was exceptional. Will be back to try the resident chef's fayre and thank you to Kate for educating me on the different options for Martinis ; )

A fantastic “small plates” restaurant on Northdown Road. My partner and I shared a selection of plates and had a fantastic bottle of German red wine. Service was spectacular. Every staff member was friendly and chatty. Big shout out to Josh! We’ll be back!

Lovely food great service. A couple more small vegetarian dishes would be great but this is not a criticism as it's our choice.

Having read favourable reviews and had a personal recommendation, we were looking forward to an evening of exceptional food. Sadly we were underwhelmed. The food was OK - we ate it all but it was nothing special and it was very expensive for pretty standard fare. The one stuffed pepper was stuffed with plain bulgar wheat (£16), the one slice of not particularly well roasted pork came with around 15 cold green beans and a roasted shallot (£21), the crab with white cabbage at £12 was a plate of shredded cabbage in what tasted like white wine vinegar with barely any crab. The goats curd vol au vents (£5 each) were nice. Four slices of baguette with the merest scraping of butter slapped carelessly onto the serving plate came in at £5. And somehow they had run out of potatoes by 7.45pm on a busy Saturday! Our bill for two came to £128 (with just three drinks between us). We got the impression that Sete is coasting along on its initial success and has already become complacent and lazy, catering to the Margate hipsters who will go there regardless. What a shame.

Excellent -refreshing -quirky in a good way - fabulous food -you must have the Chicken Scnitzel with Cafe de Paris butter, it’s a masterpiece .
