At Seneca, we do something special for groups of 9-14 guests, as we invite large parties to gather together and feast. "Convivium" is a fixed three-course, family-style meal priced per guest. There is an entry level option as well as a supplemented option with more food. You won't have to make any decisions, as we'll take care of everything, cooking up some of our favorite dishes from every section of the menu. However, because this is family style, all diners must choose the same option upon booking. Cancellations may be made up to 48 hours in advance of your reservation, any cancellations within the 48 hours are not eligible for refunds. Tax, 20% Gratuity, and 4% service fee applied at checkout.

We had a lovely new years brunch (though I do wish they actually served brunch fare). Everything was very delicious! The service, while very friendly and accommodating, got a little slow toward the end as it got busier, which is understandable. It would’ve been okay except we were in a booth that was one of two they have for parties of six but maybe six short, slim people? Pretty uncomfortable, especially in that corner spot, I spent the whole meal with my arms up over the back of the booth. I’m chubby but the rest of my party were regular sized men and one slim woman and we all felt squashed. But otherwise, a beautiful meal on a lovely day.

Took a little while after our reservation time to get seated — very busy but understandable since it was New Year’s Eve. Our server was very friendly. The food was decent, for the price the portions were a bit small and the dishes we got didn’t really look like previous pictures since online. Loved the decor and the view. Very energetic.

Wonderful decor. All our appetizers were delicious. Shrimp scampi , garlic bread & beet salad. Ordered linguini & clams - it was flavorless. Chicken was delicious. We did not order desert.

I love Seneca and have celebrated NYE here with my boyfriend for the past 3 years. My only complaint this year is about the steak we ordered. We requested medium-rare and when it arrived it was raw in the middle, the fat wasn’t rendered and it was tough to eat as a result. We notified the waiter, and the steak went back to the kitchen where they threw the same piece back on the flat iron, seared each precut slice and returned it to our table. Odd. Either way it was still uncooked aside from the slight sear. Likely the grill was too hot. Otherwise service was good, staff was polite and we plan to return next year.

What a great experience. Top quality restaurant that has an amazing feel to it. It’s fancy yet very comforting at the same time. I highly recommend checking it out. And it’s on the rooftop of the Intercontinental hotel in downtown San Diego, so you’re right there on the water. It’s beautiful!

Food is good and the service was great by our waiter. However, I had a reservation and was seated about 20 minutes late. Which normally wouldn’t be an issue but in senecas case it annoys me. They will charge you if you cancel and send you multiple emails threatening this the day of your reservation. Not to sound like Larry David but that is backwards they have no business treating their customers like that when they blatantly miss the mark all the time.
