Welcome to Sekkoya! We are a unique Pan Asian restaurant and bar located at The Riverside in Canterbury. Embark on a culinary journey of Pan-Asian flavours like no other at Sekkoya, where you will find an astounding sharing menu created by celebrity Chef Jay Morjaria which includes delectable dishes prepared on our bespoke Japanese robata grill. Our mixologists will awaken your senses with exquisite cocktails, and our chic, ‘vibe dining’ experience will take you late into the night.

Named after the tallest tree in the world, the Sequoia, Sekkoya is inspired by the tree’s monumental height bringing you closer to heaven, giving you an elevated and inspiring dining experience.

The food is incredible so no complaints there. The manager on the other hand. I would definitely suggest firing him and hiring someone new. It was only until we made it apparent to the waitress’ how appalled we were with his behaviour, that he started being nice but from the moment we got there his attitude was disgusting. Eye rolls to ally requirements and just incredibly unprofessional. Do better. The other staff were incredible and as stated, the food is the only reason we stayed. If you’re wanting drinks definitely go somewhere else because they were also bad.

I ordered a wide range of the menu from boa buns, dumplings, steamed broccoli, chicken wings, udon noodles, tagliatelle dishes etc. I have been here twice. The food was quite disappointing and often lacked flavour - everyone at my table agreed (5). However, the chicken wings were an exception because they were delicious and full of flavour. For the price paid, you’d expect to taste something less “average”, if you know what I mean. And all of the main dishes were very average. On the other hand, the decor and vibe of the restaurant saves it a lot. It’s very clean and looks impressive. I enjoyed the space. The staff are also very polite and friendly. I wouldn’t necessarily recommend Sekkoya to a friend for the purposes of dining, but I would for cocktails or light bites/sides.

Booked a Saturday night here last minute after a change of plans, and it was very easy to see why this place had loads of availability left only a few hours before I booked. This place is the embodiment of style over substance - the place looks quite fancy and has a decent selection of cocktails and even a DJ. But the food itself is grossly over priced and at best, average. I ordered 2 lamb skewers (costing £12) which were about an index fingers long each. The meat was cold and chewy and there were 4 thumbnail sized chunks of meat on each one. Also ordered dumplings, which came with no sauce or dressing at all and again were £11 or £12 for 4 pcs. The portion size with the exception of the Bao buns is ridiculously small. We Left hungry after purchasing 4 plates between two of us (costing around £45 without drinks). Very bland and disappointing. The service was even worse than the food. Baring in mind this place was half empty - we were still waiting 10 or 15 minutes on multiple occasions trying to get someone’s attention to order more drinks. It took a similar period of time to actually get the bill for us to be able to leave. We were given wrong information about the happy hour (informed it wasn’t running before I confirmed with someone else it was in fact happening). We were charged on the bill for bottled water after only receiving tap water. And despite only ordering drinks twice (for 2 people) the server still managed to get one of these orders wrong. Genuinely I would advise looking elsewhere to avoid disappointment. Wagamama is half the price and the food is levels above.

Love this place! My friend and I were browsing for places to eat and have a few drinks locally, whilst also wanting to dress up a little for the occasion. Sekkoya is the perfect place for this, a beautiful restaurant which is very unique and quite updated in comparison to typical restaurants dotted around Canterbury. We went on a Thursday, and though plenty of tables, it wasn’t particularly busy with only us two and another party; but cannot speak for weekends. We opted for the mid-week menu, which has a nice little selection but also proposed the options that I personally would’ve went for on the main menu; so great value for money where 2 courses are £15, and 3 for £20. We both ordered the chicken skewers for starters, which were lovely and not too filling. Then recommended the chicken udon noodles which were also really nice. (be advised that the pork belly and lamb chops come as they are so sides would need to be ordered, as well as being initially offered still water (bottled) which we did not realise cost a cheeky £5). We went for 3 courses, however if you opt for 2, then go for main and dessert, as the chocolate brownie was to DIE for. It was gorgeous. As for the staff. They were the most attentive staff I have encountered at a restaurant and really made the whole experience. Constantly checking if the food was up to standard, if there was anything else we would like etc. We were fortunate enough to be served by Kimberly, and another gentleman we sadly did not get the name of. Such a pleasant experience from the staff as a whole which really made it worthwhile. Would definitely recommend this place to anyone.

We absolutely loved our meal at Sekkoya. It was Sunday lunchtime so was very quiet, the restaurant has a relaxed and classy feel. The service was fantastic and the food was phenomenal. We will be going back!

We had the best experience at Sekkoya! Had a friendly warm welcome from the manager and staff. The service was excellent and we were served very quickly. Drinks came straight out and food was also very fast. The food was amazing, couldn’t fault it! The restaurant as a whole was very clean and the toilets were also clean. Attentive, friendly staff as well. Had the best time & will be coming back!!!

Nice, modern pan Asian restaurant. We ordered chicken tagliatelle, chicken udon noodles, siu mai, and fries. The fries were great, but the wasabi mayo was very mild. The siu mai was extremely pricey for 4 small pieces and was not worth it. The tagliatelle was delicious. The udon was okay-not spicy and very mild. I would say it’s catered more to Caucasian taste buds rather than Asian but it was okay.
