Sea & Sky features Executive Chef Anthony Wells who is taking the city’s restaurant scene to new heights with a menu capturing the seasonality and bounty of coastal California. Chef Wells comes to Hotel La Jolla from San Diego’s acclaimed Juniper & Ivy restaurant, where he became a culinary sensation and left an indelible mark on the neighborhood’s dining scene, drawing countless accolades including a MICHELIN Guide California Bib Gourmand award, and his own James Beard nomination for Best Chef, California in 2022.

Sea & Sky will also offer an innovative drink menu with regional California and Valle de Guadalupe wines, as well as handcrafted cocktails with ingredients from around the world.

Although the restaurant boasts a stunning view and impressive renovations, unfortunately, the overall dining experience fell short of expectations. Our positive encounters with the location and bar staff couldn't overshadow the disappointing sequence of events during the meal. Despite the warm reception from the hostess and the initial friendly service from the waiter, the evening took a turn for the worse with significant delays in taking orders and serving cold entrees. The lack of attentiveness and acknowledgment from the waiter throughout added to the frustration. Regrettably, the special occasion of our anniversary went unrecognized, leaving us feeling neglected from start to finish. While we managed to salvage the evening, the subpar service has deeply impacted our willingness to return for future celebrations. It's disheartening to have to caution others about our experience, especially considering the high price point. Perhaps sticking to the bar would be a safer bet to avoid another disappointing dining experience.

Beautiful view. Very hot at sunset though. Food was average. Tortellini was almost raw and chewy. Crab cake appetizer was good but not $40 good. Service was good but I got the feeling that our waiter may have been covering too many tables. A new restaurant so maybe they are still working through things. Very limited menu.

Came in at 12:30 for lunch There was only one table occupied and they had finished eating We ordered and waited and waited Were repeatedly told by the waitress: “food is coming” after 40 minutes the manager said the same So the 4 of us got up and left

Great ingredients and interesting preparations, but it was hard for the flavors to come through the heavy salt that was in all the dinner dishes and appetizers we tried. This restaurant replaced Cusp, and unfortunately in the remodel they took out the elevated booths against the back wall--so now if you are seated against the wall your ocean view (which is stunning) is obscured by the guests in front of you.

The service Terri provided was exceptional. She described the dishes and portions very well. The decor was fresh and welcoming. The crudo was tasty but the roasted turnips lacked seasoning. The whole snapper and salmon were good, but nothing special.

We expected lunch menu but got a brunch menu including mostly egg items. The burger was very large and tasty. My avocado toast was not outstanding and the toast was overdone and hard to cut with a knife. The ambiance is lovely...great views of the ocean and the decor is lovely. Most of the staff was very friendly and pleasant, however our waitress was not.

New chef, new decor, new name. We absolutely love Juniper & Ivy and want to support chef AW. Maybe dinner service is a better experience then brunch? Our server forgot to input our deviled egg order, kitchen ran out of pimento cheese for eclairs, our brunch (classic breakfast, eggs Benedict and brunch burger) were okay not amazing, asked twice for a spicy side sauce. Server placed our bill on the table when we were half way done with our entree. Paid with cash and it took over 10 minutes for our change. Was looking forward to a new experience than the former "Cusp". Fingers crossed it turns around quickly. The ocean view is amazing!

The food was delicious, we ordered a lot of different things and ate family style so we could try more items. Arthur our server was exceptionally outstanding! The dessert menu was too limited so we didn’t order. We hope to be back!

Amazing food and beautiful presentation, new restaurant and definitely still working out the details with service, but definitely worth a visit and we will be back.
