A true hidden gem, Sculthorpe Mill is a breath taking pub buried in the heart of the glorious Norfolk countryside built atop the River Wensum. Originally a watermill dating back to 1757, it has been lovingly restored by sisters Siobhan and Caitriona Peyton and they have created a haven for foodies and pub lovers alike, as well as one of the best pub gardens in Norfolk. This is a stunning contemporary dining pub, complete with chic bedrooms and a menu of expertly crafted modern British dishes.

Sculthorpe Mill’s seasonal menu changes regularly to make the most of Norfolk’s bountiful produce and all our core ingredients are locally sourced, foraged from land and sea before being passionately turned into award-winning dishes.

Come spring and summer, our garden is the ideal pace to enjoy an evening meal alfresco, or even just a crisp glass of rosé as you listen to the rush of the river or the buzzing of bees in the flower garden.

Very good. The service was efficient and the food of a high standard and beautifully presented. The price wasn’t extortionate and we felt it was good value.

Excellent evening. Food was excellent, service attentive but not intrusive. Good portions. Starters really good. Couldn’t manage dessert. £170 for 4 including 2 drinks each and 2 large courses and sides.

Food: excellent gazpacho but enormous serving - way too much. My fish was overcooked, dry and under-seasoned, accompanied by a pile of sliced tomatoes and nothing else, also under-seasoned, in a pale vinaigrette. Very disappointing. One friend had the beefburger and said it was cold. The other asked for a scoop of vanilla ice cream in her espresso but got the ice cream alone, and 5 minutes later an americano. Service pleasant but slow, and WAY too many dogs. You should welcome 'well-behaved dogs' in your advertising - these were very noisy and constantly being dragged past our table to cavort on the lawn with others equally active.

Lovely lunch , all courses very well presented, great flavours etc , we didn’t have room for desert but selection looked good. Liked the fact there was a 1 litre bottle of wine available on the wine list , as perfect for sharing. There was a bit of a draft where our table was located , more noticeable as it was a poor weather day, but otherwise everything was great.

Lovely meals. Shared chicken mushroom pie - tasty & plentiful. Could have done with one more vegetarian main meal option. Staff very responsive and friendly. Amazing beautiful location. We ate indoors upstairs, will come back for a meal in the garden

We had the sharing meal for 2 which we thoroughly enjoyed all clan plates tells you how good it was. Certainly go back the next time we are dow here.

We came to celebrate my husband’s retirement along with his sister. We have been a few times before sat upstairs and in the restaurant downstairs which were also fab. This time we sat outside by the river, the weather was great, food and service as they always have been - great! It is a treat for us to go there, but always really enjoy the food and it is so worth it.

Both my wife and I enjoyed our starters of hot smoked salmon and a ham hock. My main lamb dish was pretty dreadful. The fat was not rendered chewy meat which looked as if had been hacked off rather than carved. At £28 it was very poor value. I only wish I had sent it back. My wife had monkfish scampi which was just ok with an over rich tartare sauce.

I dont normally leave reviews however after dining at Sculthorpe Mill last night i feel the need to let everyone know what a wonderful gem it is. Beautiful gardens, gorgeous interior, absolutely delicious food and flawless service. We went for my friends birthday and it was a great treat. We had a drink outside before the meal in the delightful settings then moved inside for the meal. Started with a few local Oysters and ended up ordering more because they were so good. Hard to pick the a main as all sounded so good but I went for the lamb which was delcious and my friend the steak which was cooked to perfection. We shared a Knickerboker glory which was heaven and the very good selection of cheeses. Also, we discovered they have rooms so I have booked a two night stay in October and I really cant wait to go back!

This was my second visit in just over a month and each time was equally amazing. We arrived a bit earlier as wanted to have some drinks in the garden before dinner. It was so lovely, a summers evening by the river enjoying some sparking rose. The garden is huge and is so well looked after. We had dinner outside on the terrace looking over the garden. Great table. The food was outstanding. The dishes were interesting and the ingredients were fresh and tasty. The staff were really friendly without being annoying. I cannot rate Sculthorpe Mill enough and I will keep returning
