Walk-in's always welcome! Screen Door is a restaurant that presents itself as a love letter to the American South and the revival of regional cooking. Each day, the restaurant receives natural, local organic meats and produce from nearby vendors. The inclusion of regional Pacific Northwest ingredients into a menu of dishes developed in the south has created a unique flavor profile in Screen Door's menu. Many of Screen Doors dishes draw their inspiration from Louisiana and the Cajun cooking that's found there. These include our world-famous Fried Chicken, Lowcountry shrimp and grits, smoked andouille chicken gumbo and fried okra. Other items, like the house-smoked beef brisket and braised pork shoulder, come straight from the state of Texas. The rest of the South is well represented as well with a Carolina pulled pork sandwich, chicken and waffles, crispy fried oysters and a pimiento cheese & sausage biscuit sandwich with a fried egg and cheddar grits.

    It is a must stop for us every trip to Portland. The praline bacon and cheesy grits are phenomenal and then the crème de la crème is the chicken and sweet potato waffle.

    As always, the food and the service is great! Our server was attentive and knowledgeable about the menu and had a great sense of humor!

    Great food! Shrimp and grits a must. The banana fosters French toast and lemon curd blueberry pancakes are incredible. Service was very friendly. Reservations highly recommended.

    Wonderful service by all staff! Food great! A touch noisy once it starts filling up. Would like a few more main course options. But!! Still a yummy experience!!

    We had a reservation for 7, but they were very patient with us and moved our table to another spot when we last minute had 9 show up for the reservation. Thank you!

    Visiting my daughter in Portland and she insisted that we needed to eat here. We were definitely not disappointed. The food was delicious and definitely worthy of a follow up visit. The portions are hefty and priced right. It was amazing how quickly the restaurant filled up. Delicious food, old diner ambiance, and great/attentive service.

    You need a reservation. Use OpenTable. Awesome service. Food was excellent. Ambiance was more open cafe style, which is fine but it gets noisy and you’re close to many people. Street parking, which wasn’t difficult because we got there right about when the restaurant opened. The food takes a while to get out, but overall, very good experience.
