Just ok for us. Soup came out cold, they were ber nice and warmed it. But took them a few minutes to find spoons for 2 of us. Others had clam chowder and really liked. Meals were good but not outstanding.

Food was good but some dishes were slightly underwhelming (e.g., room temperature mashed potatoes that were undersalted). Other dishes, like the Cobb salad, were amazing. Service and ambiance were excellent.

Had a great time! My friend and I were well cared for by the service staff, our food and drinks were delicious and arrived very timely. Will certainly be back

It’s always a great time at scholar! We have now been to this restaurant three times and have consistently left happy. Definitely one of the top five restaurants in Grand Rapids!

Excellent experience! Great service. Delicious food. Will definitely return. Our table had the crab cake appetizer, Cobb salad, green goddess soup, lamb chops and halibut. Each meal was served to perfection.

Beautiful place, very poor service. Waitress never cam back to ask how our dinner was or anything. My porkchop could have been cooked longer for my liking.

We loved our dining experience was wonderful!! We really enjoyed the onion dip and the house salad. My husband had the filet and I had the chicken and throughly enjoyed both. The noise level was quiet and perfect for us to be able to chat and enjoy our meal. We would highly recommend! We also give them high marks for handling a small glitch in the kitchen with our entree’s. The chef come to our table apologized and compensated one of our entrees, which was much more then we thought was necessary but appreciated it.

It was the best last minute bday reservation. I had a brother-sister bartender waitress team that killed it. Service great, best espresso martini around, and such a cool place in the downstairs study area. It made my bday night!!

We walked into Scholar at an unlikely time - 4:30pm - and our plan was to enjoy a leisurely "supper" prior to walking over Van Andel Arena for the Alan Jackson concert at 7pm. It wasn't busy but the place still felt wonderfully comfortable with a few tables murmuring and the staff lightly chatting with each other. Scholar's focused menu is very attractive - enough choices to please everyone but a limited scope to allow for the kitchen to shine. At our table of five, three standout entrees included the lamb (perfectly medium rare with a delightful barely-sweet glaze), the halibut (flaky and sitting above a wonderfully light risotto), and the pork chop (ridiculously tender and truly a "double cut"). All in all, a tremendously inviting jewel on our very first visit to the area! And to complete our story, as we walked out of Scholar at 6:40pm, the tables were filling up nicely. :-)
