From the moment I stepped into Scholar I was enveloped by an atmosphere that effortlessly marries sophistication with comfort. (A compete change from when it was the bar I frequented many years ago!) Dining on the lower level felt like stepping into an elegant study or a refined cigar bar, complete with leather couches, an inviting fireplace, and soft library lighting. Every detail was meticulously curated to create a warm and welcoming vibe. The drink menu was impressive, featuring a delightful selection of cocktails and wines. One of my dinner guests savored a particular Malbec that was so exceptional, he couldn't resist ordering a second glass. The appetizer and dinner dishes arrived promptly and presented with artistry that made them as stunning to look at as they were to taste. Each bite exceeded my expectations, offering a symphony of flavors that highlighted the chef’s dedication to quality and creativity. Overall, my experience at Scholar was nothing short of exceptional. I can't wait to return and share another evening filled with remarkable food & drink shared with friends.

First time for us, we dined in the lower level, laid back, just right. Great waiter & bartender. the Food was very good. We are from out of town and we will be back.

Great! Loved the steak, we had an early dinner so it was quiet and quick. Loved it!

The ambiance and service was 10/10. Both times we have dined the food has been very salty for the price

Scholar has a varied menu with some delectable surprises. The two bison dishes were good, and the gluten - free carrot cake meant my wife and I could a treat together. The wait staff was knowledgeable and attentive. The facility is in a charmingly repurposed building in downtown GR with lots of atmosphere.

Excellent date night spot. The flat bread was amazing. The drinks were great and the food was excellent. The desserts were just ok.

While the atmosphere was amazing for a Tuesday night, I could not imagine being at Scholar on a weekend evening. We were upstairs in the parlor and the bartender was in charge of ALL of the tables as well as patrons seated at the bar. It was incredibly slow and we were waiting for everything. Waiting to place drink orders, waiting for drinks, waiting to place food orders, etc. On top of all of that, the food was subpar for the prices paid. My husband ordered the short ribs and could not figure out what the gritty texture he was feeling was while eating. It turned out to be seeds from the blackberries! I had the salmon and while the taste was tolerable, the smell was quite terrible. I don’t mind the smell of fish but this did not smell like fish. It was comparable to a baby diaper pail!! I could not believe it!! Nor could I believe the how small the portions were considering the price was high. We would not go to Scholar again. If we want to spend $200 on a meal (which was my husbands birthday!), we will gladly go to Gin Gins instead next time!!
